  1. My dad owned a 2-seat Pontiac "Business Coupe".... my sister and I both rode in the back....there wasn't a deck, but a kind of 'pouch'.... sometimes my sister rode sitting between my parents....but I always rode in the pouch!
  2. This thread is actually more interesting than I thought it would be....hope no one got "Perma-banned" for any of their responses! I was never a big druggie, (even though that was a hallmark of my generation), and I never took up smoking....never though it was smart to grind up a leaf, pack it in a small piece of paper.....stick it in my mouth then light it on fire! I did my share of drinking, but never got to the point where I couldn't go for months without any alcohol. At my age, I try to stay off ladders, (maybe 6' is my limit), I don't drive fast, I don't try to jog anywhere....I just move at a slow and deliberate pace. I eat pretty good....and now that I'm retired, I get a lot of rest, (@ 7 hours per night). Was in 'Nam, and did a lot of scary stuff there...but that's in the past...53 years ago! Was a Varsity Wrestler and Pole Vaulters in high school (until I found being in a band could get you girls by the handfull!). Would never attempt that again. On the rare occasion I play a gig, my wife keeps a close eye on me, even though I've never taken any girl up on their solicitations. Guess I'm just a typical 'old man'.
  3. Ben, 70 isn't all that young...and people die at 70 all the time. Not too many go out in a race car accident....leaving both their mother and father. Father is 98.
  4. Thank you....even though I've been retired for 3 years, I'm still on the payroll...such a great company to work for.
  5. Not sure racing at 70 is wise. It was probably a charity event, as Jim hosted a "think tank" in Aspen each June and this happened during that week.
  6. The whole family is exceptional. The 'Head' of the family is Lester Crown....last I spoke with Lester, he was still sharp as a tack! He's now 98 years old! One of Jim & Bill's nephews was in the South Tower on 9/11. His name is Keating Crown. Keat told me the whole story over breakfast one day...simply an amazing story! https://abcnews.go.com/US/September_11/911-anniversary-survivor-reflects-escaping-death/story?id=14479161
  7. Sad to report that one of my bosses was killed yesterday. I actually reported to Bill Crown, who was Jim's cousin...but it is a family business. They were/are a WONDERFUL family to work for...and I'm saddened by this loss. Jim was a good guy...and we NEVER discussed politics. https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/26/business/james-crown-obit/index.html
  8. Probably typed in my iPhone.... I can barely see the words on it. (but that does not mean I wasn't drunk!)
  9. I musta been drunk when I typed this..... I type VERY fast...just not very well! Should have read: "You know, my wife and I have been showing dogs for over 25 years. We’re both judges."
  10. I am playing sitting, but with a strap.....I found I tend to lean over the guitar while the chart is sitting on the kitchen table. After a while, I may use a music stand so I keep my head up while playing. What I've done for years is to sit at the table.... chart on the table with a J-50 guitar and I could 'feel' the pain in my right shoulder as I reached over it.....so, I went 2 weeks without playing.... now playing a solid-body electric guitar...with a strap so I won't (I hope) lean over to practice.
  11. Well, I'm back playing guitar after a 2-week lay-off. I'm working on Johnny B. Goode, (a MAJOR undertaking since in no universe would I be considered a lead player), using a custom-made solid body electric guitar I got from my cousin's estate. I got the guitar years ago, but he just passed away one year ago. The Bursitis in my right shoulder is maybe 80% healed...but am now fighting a horrible pain in my back that seems to be affecting my left arm..... will be back at the Chiropractor's office later today. Wish me luck, (with the shoulder as well as Johnny B. Goode).
  12. I'm sorry for your loss....and when a musician dies, we all lose. I lost a bandmate and friend in 1994, another in 2009 and another, but my best friend for 60 years in 2020. Each one took a piece of me.
  13. I don't need an Artificial Intelligence App to tell me what or how to think....I have a wife!
  14. It's amazing how we harm our bodies due to living life! Good luck..... I've put on a significant amount of weight since retirement.... and I rarely do any physical work now!
  15. I'll post on here what transpires. I'll lay off for this week....and next week I'm gonna start working on "Johnny B. Goode" which will be on the Strat...... The Chiropractor did want me to use a strap.... stand if possible..... but my hours of practicing are usually done sitting at the kitchen table with a chart laying.....I'll work on that when I start playing again.
  16. Got a wake-up call from my chiropractor yesterday. I went to him because of a sore right shoulder. He quickly determined it to be brusitis. I have pain when I reach with my right arm.... I can even feel it when I reach over my guitar to play. Seems since retirement, I play guitar nearly every day....for about 3 hours. He asked about how I sit when I play.... I showed him....he asked about the shape of the guitar (he is somewhat knowledgeable of guitars). Seems I slump over my guitar when practicing..... for my whole life I got away with it, because I played mostly on the weekends. When I was playing out, I was on an electric guitar and was standing. Now, I'm going to lay off the guitar for another week..... then play my Jubilee (not a Dread) & put the charts up at eye-level so I don't slump over to read. I'm hoping by doing all that, the pain the shoulder will subside. As they say, getting old ain't for sissies!
  17. As always....wonderful!

  19. There was an earlier thread about Monty Python....but not specifically what you're asking for. I've seen a couple of t heir movies and many of their TV Shows (Monty Python's Flying Circus). but that's it. Like you, took me a while to appreciate their humor...now I find them HILLAROUS!
  20. I used to have The Rolling Stone's Rock And Roll Circus.... lost it in a hard drive crash....need to get it again....simply fantastic.
  21. And sometimes ONE ring will make you go broke!
  22. I certainly have had to change my playing...there are chords I simply cannot make any more..... I've been able to get around most of those hurdles so far.... the good thing is that I have much more time to practice, and I'm not limited to recording to the weekends!
  23. Happy A-Day! I'm hoping for AT LEAST 10 years of retirement. My wife only worked outside the home for about 6 months when we first got married....so she was all set for retirement. I will have been retired for 3 years in July....it's truly a great situation.
  24. I've watched this before..... it's so danged true!
