  1. I’m a MartyStuart fan too…..I know Chris took over for Paul Martin when he kept. I did take Coe’s arrangement into account….but NO ONE can even carry his lunch pail!
  2. I'm with ya, Dave. When I recorded "Tennessee Whiskey" I kind of blended Chris' arrangement with George Jones'. It came out okay!
  3. I like it... "Smirking Nurses" is PERFECT for a band of old-rockers!
  4. There are worse things, (if that can be believed)..... my doctor said colonoscopies are no longer necessary for me....because if something WERE to be found, I'll die of something else long before it got to be a problem! So.... drink up..... good luck....hopefully the nurses won't be smirking when you wake up.
  5. Ben, they have not provided any new major reservoirs in the state since the 60's. But the population has grown significantly since then!
  6. Rain seems to have let up for a few days.... I think it's supposed to rain again on Sunday. California has been in a drought a few years.....(I contend we don't have a 'water problem' but a 'water storage problem'). Now, the reservoirs are overflowing.... being declared 'a disaster' by our government. So, instead of capturing the water so the citizens of California can have access to water, it's permitted to just run to the ocean.
  7. Well....my mind HAS gotten to the point where I can barely remember my own name from day to day....and ears keep getting bigger and bigger, (and covered in hair)....so I guess you're right!
  8. What does a apiarist have to do with this?
  9. I fell in love with a Doves In Flight as I was looking for a J-200 with natural Maple back & sides. I stumbled on a 2003 DIF with Natural Maple back & sides, (so far, the ONLY one I've ever seen!). Congratz on a great guitar purchase....she'll love it.... and as Em7 said.... she'll have to keep a close eye on it..... guitars tend to get 'lost' while loading and unloading gear. We lost a 1963 Sunburst Strat while loading the van at a Chuck Berry gig we played.... was loaded in the van, went back inside to grab the Bandmaster amp, and the guitar walked away!
  10. WOW! Could be the guitar that interests me in a Gibson Electric!
  11. I had an Ovation 12-String. The rounded back became problematic as my front got more rounded. Played like a RailRoad tie anyway....gave it to my luthier... he robbed the electronics off it, sold the case and threw the guitar away!
  12. I was a sheet metal worker early in my work life, (at Peterbilt). With sheet metal, you cut or drill EVERYTHING!
  13. I'd have more guitars if I had a place to store them.....I promised the wife I"d keep ALL my guitars in the music room.....after playing the J-200 Studio at The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, I got some real GAS for one!
  14. If you like the guitar and the price is right...you know you'll have money go in and out of your hands for your entire life...you won't remember what you spent and on what.....EXCEPT if you buy a guitar you love...you'll remember it 'till your dying day!
  15. I bought a brand-new Hummingbird in 2011. It sounds 100% different after now after 12 years.... but I'd say it took maybe 10 years to really open up.
  16. Won't that make callouses on the lobes?
  17. I've only heard 3-4 songs by Bob....but his stuff was very good, and enjoyable to listen to. And who could ever forget his puns? He was the master of puns.
  18. You know, he was VERY wise! And he's right about what the folk hear and what they want to hear. The VAST majority of people don't give a hoot about someone's 'tone'.... they care about hearing music they know or like.
  19. That's kind of what I recalled.
  20. Yes...that's one of the things..... I'll probably make brownies this morning before my wife gets up, (they're her favorite). The News calls what we're having as an "atmospheric river" heavy rain starting yesterday through next Tuesday. I woke up this morning about 2:30 and could hear it was raining "like a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock" (I grew up next door to a dairy). Garage got wet, (not too bad....yet).
  21. supposed to rain here for the next week! good time to do “inside stuff”!
  22. Weren’t the J-160e’s all laminate bodies?
  23. When Gunman asked about 2-piece backs, I presumed he meant mirrored pieces laid together...not laminated like plywood.
  24. Guess I'm more of a traditionalist.... I like my sound holes in the front....round...... on a spruce top..... My J-50 is a 1975....but not played much (at all?) until I got it 2-1/2 years ago....now it's my daily player.... So I don't think I'll live long enough to wear out the frets on it ... and I rotate the other 5 acoustics, so their fret wear is minimal...and again, I don't think I'll be around long enough to wear any of them to the point where they need replacing. My luthier retired, so I don't think he'd be up to replacing frets now....so I'd need to find a new luthier around here.
