  1. All this time I thought you meant 'Don't play the guitar with cheap genes'....you know....like Jet Williams!
  2. Enzo, how does it play? It's a real beauty.
  3. I bought my Hummingbird from the San Jose GC. They advertised it on line...I called them and told them to keep it in the case, and I'd be in on Monday to pick it up. Don't recall if I gave the a CC # to hold it....probably did....I was serious about buying it. I was adamant... do NOT let anyone play it! I bought my DIF from the GC in San Francisco..... was the easiest purchase I ever made..... I called them and they sent it to my house! I got my J-50 from the GC in Washington State somewhere, (it was a gift from my crew when I retired).....so I'm not exactly sure where it came from.
  4. Probably the best part....here's your shoe....we're done with you!
  5. I'm not much on TV.... watch RFD-TV some, and Battle Bots...that's about it! So I've never seen that show.
  6. Unfortunately, in these times you have to worry about legal and civil repercussions for these things. Had he stolen the guitar, it would just cause the price increase of every other guitar in the store. If the guy sues, the price of gear in the store will increase, (since even Guitar Center can't print money). If the store fires the bearded guy, every other employee will turn their backs on theft....thus causing price increases to those of us who DO pay for gear!
  7. If he was gonna get a beat-down like that, I hope he was, at least, tryin' to steal a nice guitar!
  8. I wonder how long the guy laid out on the sidewalk in front of the Albuquerque Guitar Center? https://citizenfreepress.com/breaking/do-not-steal-a-guitar-in-albuquerque/
  9. I worked with Jeff back in 1966 when he was with The Yardbirds…..I didn’t really KNOW him, but it’s still very sad that he passed.
  10. I vaguely recall seeing a show where a bunch of Les' stuff was up for auction or sale somewhere...but I could be wrong.....but I didn't see his collection..... like Django's Selmer.
  11. Sorry..... I didn't know that's what happened.... I use Facebook to be able to post photos on here. I'll have to see if there's another way....
  12. Speaking of the 'uber-collectors' such as Bonamassa and Gill.....I wonder where Les Paul's collection ended up? I kind of recall him showing his Ledbelly Stella 12-String....can't IMAGINE what that's worth!
  13. "Back" on subject...I saw this hanging in the Guitar Center in San Francisco.... Doves In Flight with natural back & sides....never saw one before, and haven't seen another since! This is a 2003...other than the Master Museum J-200's... it's the prettiest guitar I've ever seen!
  14. BUT! If you were to throw it.....
  15. great job on possibly the best song ever written.
  16. A real beauty! hope she sounds as good as she looks! what year? where did you get her?
  17. Funny as heck...but I need subtitles.
  18. In 'Nam some of the guys paid papasan to take a normal carton of cigs, remove all the tobacco and replace with weed....I'm sure papasan reused the tobacco. I never did it, and I never smoked any weed or cigs there....but I saw them, and papasan did a pretty good job!
  19. I have several Gibson Square Shoulder Dreads....but my J-50 is the one I play every day. (it's sitting right next to me now as I work on a song someone requested).
  20. CONGRATZ, Murph… I had a glass of champagne last night…..I’ve never smoked cigarettes, and pot ever interested me much. Just happy to still be upright in my 74th year. HappyNewYear to you all.
  21. RBS, yes....I was only stating MY preferences.... I very much like Martin Guitars, and I very much like Gibson ES's and Les's & SG's. I draw the line at Yamahas & Taylors....but again, that's just me!
  22. sounds like you have the ear and resources to search for “your” guitar. like you, in my mind, an acoustic guitar should be a Gibson, (and an electric should be a Fender). let us know how your J-45 sounds when you get it back.
  23. When I bought my 'Bird back in 2011, I saw it advertised on line at the GC store in San Jose. I was in Los Angeles at the time. I called them, and told them I'd be in on Monday to pick it up.....told them to put it in the case and leave it alone until I got there. I don't think I even left a deposit over the phone, but I might have. I didn't want a 15 year-old "Grunge-Wannabe" banging in around.
