Slash feat. Brian Johnson - "Killing Floor"
OrdinaryNimda replied to Rabs's topic in The Gibson Lounge
This song is a real treat, a feast of musical expression. Goes for everyone of the artists on the video, including the ones in the black & white segments. BIG APPLAUSE! -
I had to look this one up.๐ Alex Gonzรกlez (musician) Alejandro Gonzรกlez Trujillo (born February 24, 1969) is an American musician of Cuban and Colombian extraction. He is the main drummer and songwriter for the Mexican band Manรก and metal band De La Tierra. He is nicknamed "El Animal" and has sung lead vocals on several songs, such as "Me Vale".

This looks like a real treasure. Maybe you should talk to Gibson, they might want to inspect and document it. And evaluate for repairs.

No, that is the function of the selector. It implements a route for the electric signal. (so we have 3 different routes. When the neck PU is selected, the bridge PU is offline and its generated signal is bypassed) Advice: don't ever leave a finger in that toaster. ๐

The retailer is the one who should take care of the warranty. Did you go to Gibson's website and register the guitar?

The one change Gibson made that ruined Gibson guitars.

There was a video series "Gibson: The Process" where Jim DeCola spoke on this difference of 50s and modern construction techiques. What he said is "they're different, but it doesn't mean one is better than the other". This goes specifically for the "long tennon" debate. We all accept that, he knows what he's talking about. As far as pricing goes... Gibson is like any other responsible producer. It sells its products for the prices it can get. Meaning, that if anything is "overpriced", people will not buy it. So they have to adjust their pricing exactly to where they think the market will buy it. Otherwise there'd be surplus and huge discounts at retail shops. I think Gibson is doing a mighty fine job on everything like its products, pricing, quantities, quality & they even have great videos on YouTube. Just like all the other guitar companies. You have to build great stuff and sell it for a decent price, or you will go out of business. That's the beauty of the free market.๐ -
They got a new one today for $12K+ at WildwoodGuitars. (I will never even think of buying something like this, but the sound must be incredible!) Custom Shop D-45 | Martin Guitars, New Arrivals | Wildwood Guitars

I did some hollowbody-hunting, and guess what I found? A time-forward reference for Gibson Citation, Byrdland and Super 400, coming "in a few months". I never had any of those in my hands, but I see some of the great guitarists played them for real. This is from Thomann's website and they posted some great photos of each of the models. Even the prices are not being kept secret by anybody. (add 15% to get the price in Euros). ๐ค Jazz Guitars by Gibson โ Thomann UK

The global warming these days! ๐ -
I wouldn't have guessed in a million years. But, yeah, good move!

The handwired Princeton and Deluxe are double the mexican-made price, so like $2400 and $2700. In Europe, the USA handwired Deluxe is like โฌ2900 at Thomann.

Congrats! And what does the "H" in HNPD stand for? Huge? ๐ค

The amps are here! Falcon 5 and Falcon 20. They sound great, and the prices are exactly where they sould be. Someone should post a video in a new thread. I will post it here...๐

How old will you be on your next birthday?
OrdinaryNimda replied to Mr. Gibson's topic in The Gibson Lounge
I will be some 9 months older. ๐ -
In the part just before the guitar solo, Dolly's and Ronny's voices interact in an incredible way. Goose bumps from a really old song done in a beautiful new way! ๐

Intelligence update accepted! ๐ They want to make it look like a Gibson headstock, but there's a 3-screw trussrod cover, making it look like a fake. Fender did this very elegantly with their brand Charvel, and the headstock is just as beatiful as the original.
-
They probably closed Kalamazoo and relocated to Nasvhille in the 80s just for this reason!
-
What's the point of this headstock? ๐

Any "Amanda Lynn" players on the Gibson forum?

Great videos! Especially the second one was really interesting and joyful. Love the music and the sound of the instruments. -

So we should keep playing "Chitlins Con Carne" on mandolins? ๐ -

Looks like Nashville, despite all elements being similar to acoustic guitar production: "Each newly made 1923 F-5 Master Model Reissue crafted by Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, will come with a Certificate of Authenticity bearing a portrait of Lloyd Loar, the Master Luthier who worked for Gibson for only five years, but whose innovations in that time paved the way for so much that followed." -
Gibson has informed us, that they made two new MANDOLIN models. They look gorgeous and are premium instruments (including the prices ๐ง), but I am not a mandolin player. Never had one in my hands. However, this development is interesting, because it looks like a "technical warmup" for the things that might be really interesting for guitarists, for example ES-175 and similar guitars. I think he is one of the greats. His past work is tremendous. For that, Waters deserves all respect, and all the other PinkFloyd guys, too. However, it's prolly time for retirement... ๐ -
Beautiful close-ups, can almost smell the wood grain fibers!
