  1. No worries, law enforcement agents are hot on the trail! (Image courtesy Zerohedge)
  2. That's what I like about this forum. You learn stuff PLUS it's fun. Almost like ChatGPT on steroids. 😁
  3. These guys prolly don't qualify? 🀑 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_The
  4. I was a big fan of Deep Purple, but not of Whitesnake. Only recently I learned Jon Lord and Ian Paice were there... until Coverdale fired them, because one day they went to the horse races instead of coming in for practicing for their new album. Bernie Marsden did play with Lord, Ashton and Paice in one album. Top-tier musicians.
  5. The 63 SG Special is already SOLD. (The guitars look well preserved on the photos)
  6. Sometimes we get some accordion even from Al Dimeola's music. It's not always RockNRoll, sometimes it's... Capoeira, but Al stays on the guitar. 😎
  7. I checked on my 2022 LP 50s Standard: The pickguard is bevelled on the outside, and straight down on the string side. Wiring is "modern", not 50s style,
  8. I know everybody knows this song, but I'ma gonna post it here anyway. (Never heard this version before) Gimme Shelter
  9. Nice pics of a beautiful ES! πŸ˜„ What gauge strings are on it?
  10. I have a cheap Ibanez Artcore with very lousy pickups. It had a warped neck (new 🀑) and my great luthier put 011 strings on it, instead of stock 010s. The neck is now straight and has very low action. I could not do bends 2 years ago. But now the fingers have grown some muscles, and bending is not a problem anymore. Like everyone else I occasionally look at the 5th Ave Godins (the ones without a Bigsby) and dream of a (new!) ES-175 with 57 Classics. The sound from these on some old recordings (Grant Green and other masters) is really something to be wished for. There will come a day, when I can play SUNNY on an archtop. I mean, not like Pat Martino, but with decent speed & no errors! 😎
  11. This is not a negative kind of "saga". Let's see the pics! πŸ‘
  12. OK, let's wait & see and hope for the best. πŸ‘
  13. Just a hunch. (plus it has to be that way)
  14. Oh, sorry, I didn't know that! I thought it was just some "christine" on Facebook.🀣
  15. Yes, the Firebird Standard is $1999. (and $2399 after the next price increase on oct 1. 2023)
  16. The Firebird cannot be discontinued. That would be sheer Blasphemy. There's a certain quality in its sound, that even non-pros like me can appreciate. You can't simulate that with pedals. Waiting anxiously for any Standard Firebird news...
  17. Put Christine on BLOCK for a few weeks if she's a re-occurring nuissance. Sometimes such folks get tired after a while and join other groups.
  18. I have a 50s Standard LP with Burstbuckers1/2 and an ES-335 with T-Tops. Both were bought new. The LP sound is gorgeous and imposing at all frequencies. The ES is much brighter and after some 9 months has mellowed slighlty to get that same sound I hear on recordings of pros (Freddie King, for example). So both guitars have incredibly great sounds, but way different & similar at the same time.
  19. I think there's no need to panic! 🧐 Gibson just recently issued a new "collection" of Protector guitar cases. There's eleven on offer, for all guitar types being made now. One of them is for the Firebird, so there's a lot of reasoning to support the idea, that the Standard Firebird will be back in stock. Which is good news in these God-forsaken times. (Protectors are listed below the soft cases): https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Collection/travel Here't the Firebird version: Gibson | Deluxe Protector Case, Firebird
  20. It's true. Everybody does it.
  21. I lived in Tokyo for a few years. The people are very nice and civilized, but they cannot pronounce "L" in foreign language words, so they replace it with an "R". The same goes for the "R", which they replace with an "L". They are very strict and disciplined about it.😁
  22. I flipped the neck ring on my ES-335 after Googling a thread on this forum. Took me and my bro like 30 minutes. The springs are extremely long and it's no joke to squeeze them in easily. We did it in the second attempt. The sound? When new, the ES-335/Satin Cherry was very brittle and trebly-harsh. Flipping the ring helped with adjusting the height, and reigned-in the sound "somewhat". But the real magic happened like 6 months later. The whole guitar seems to have settled down and "unstiffened". Now the sound is indescribably great. Literally "oozing" with maple.😁
