  1. PHASE deals only with situations with 2 (or more) pickups being active. The switch just reverses the flow direction of electric current through one of the pickups. In-phase means, that both pickups have the same magnetic polarities and electric flow directions in the wire OR have opposing magnetic polarities and electric flow directions. (two distinct cases of in-phase) On the other hand, If two pickups have the same magnetic polarities and different electric flow directions OR different magnetic polarities and same electric directions, they're "out of phase". (two distinct cases of out-of-phase)
  2. Nobody mentioned 'ALLO 'ALLO, dealing with WW2 mostly in Nazi-occupied France. So it's very relevant today. It had quite a few seasons. English humor rulez, and more so when it's with a French or German accent. Or even an English one...
  3. It is, but only if it's on the end. Here, the last part of the DNS name is ".GOV" which is a US government domain.
  4. Interesting... 25.5 scale length for Songwriters.
  5. Both basses look great, I prefer this to any "relic job"! 👍
  6. That'll be, when they buy Philips Consumer Division again.
  7. This might be interesting. Two yrs ago I got a cheap Gibson DC Tribute from an English retailer, picked it up from the case, tuned and played. But a new USA Strat had slight 3rd string buzz on fret #7, etc, was taken to a luthier for set-up, and now it's 100% perfect... I assume, that the climate in Nashville is similar to a large part of Europe & UK, but the climate in SoCal is very dry, so guitars are set-up differently. Will watch this carefully on future acquisition rampages.
  8. Fantastic! Plus the summer is coming... There's a song for this.
  9. Ordered this Gibson Standard 50s Tobacco Burst from the German mega-retailer THOMANN. The guitar was made in january 2022. After careful visual inspection, there were no visual or structural faults to be seen. The weight comes in at 4.2 kg (9lbs and 5 oz), which looks like somewhere in the middle of the range. Handling is smooth and effortless, the "chunky" neck is not thick at all (and I don't have lumberjack-hands). Action is as low as could be imagined, with no fret buzz or rattle. They obviously do a thorough setup in the factory. The sound is incredible on the clean - huge, wide & uncompromising. I have always been a Strat guy, this guitar is different in every way, both great, but with totally different personalities. Attractive and wantsa be played immediately & for ever and ever. Big applause for GIBSON! 😎 Still waiting for the ES-335 Satin Cherry, ordered back in May 2020. There's prolly tons of proverbs about the supreme virtue of Patience, however I've forgotten them all through the aeons, LOL.
  10. I agree with everyone else, you should take it to a qualified luthier for inspection. The picture with the full-frontal is really great. Beautiful guitar!
  11. Because there has to be a ".jpg" suffix to the URL. You entered it correctly, the forum software cut it away for some reason. I think you can correct this error, and change the links by using the "CHAIN" symbol at the top of the editor. Or, use Shift-Ctrl-V (=Paste as plain text) to embed the image into the forum directly. Beautiful guitars!
  12. #BREAKING Matthews appeared with a new press release, saying Russian issues have been resolved, AND is filling backlog PLUS is taking orders again, with the only downside being the Import Tariffs on the "receiving end". So we can expect at least a +35% hike in prices for tubes. 😪 Source: https://guitar.com/news/gear-news/electro-harmonix-solves-russian-tube-export-issues-prices-raised-tariffs-ukraine-conflict/
  13. There was a Gibson factory tour the other day on YouTube, where I learned how Firebirds are made, one-piece neck all the way to the end of the body, with added wings for body-volume. The sound coming out of that endless neck, is just WOW!... My only complaint is the reverse headstock (not of this guitar, but in general). And another one, wtf, it's a Fender headstock. On a Gibson? OK, enough ranting, it's the sound one is always after. And playability is just a function of man/hours one puts into playing it. Gotta put a Firebird on the shopping list...
  14. Never heard of their names, nor the name of the band SHORT CROSS. However, the music seems period-correct (like iconic for 1972, or something), so I think it is the right thing to do, to post the album here. Enjoyed it, including the presumably "brass heavy" opening song "Nothin' but a woman".
  15. Oh wow, great sounding guitar, and this guy is incredibly good at playing! 😁
  16. Beautiful, looks like new! 👍 Will be really something finding tonal differences versus the one with humbuckers?
  17. Wow, I would really like to hear it sing. 👍
  18. Visually inspect the remote controller, if the ON/OFF button and/or others are stuck. I had a similar situation, but it worked the other way: I couldn't turn it on. A new controller fixed the problem.
