  1. Nah - those "Nigerians" were Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife's daughter's father-in-law.
  2. And I absolutely despise Springsteen. Great band but his singing and playing are terrible. I can't even stand looking at him.
  3. I don't get it. Lately whenever I play one of my Gibsons I realize just how much I love my Tele. I always gravitate to that guitar no matter what.
  4. I've been self-employed for the past 20 years. I work with my wife. We do well together (married 34 years). When I WAS an "employee" I was out in the field all day as a working foreman electrician in Las Vegas. I was happy. Then I got talked into accepting a position as an estimator for the company which put me into the office environment. It all went downhill from there. I lasted about a year. After that I went to work for an engineering firm in an office environment and lasted 6 years. It drove me crazy and I had to quit. It was the fake people that I couldn't stand being around. Corrupt, thieving, lying, cheating posers who thought nothing of burying you for their own benefit. I'm much happier now.
  5. I was never a fan . . . Let the beatings commence!
  6. Each builder there has his or her own technique. They cobble together whatever tools and jigs they need to help them do the job. There are many videos on the Tube which show others doing this in different ways.
  7. If you only want to replace the buttons but keep the tuners it is a difficult task. I've tried it on one of my acoustics, using a tutorial I found on StewMac's website. For me, it did not work out. I ended up ruining the tuner.
  8. Wow - 25 pounds! Even in the case that's one hefty Lester, or a LOT of packing! Mine is 10 and change and It's a beast.
  9. I've bought and sold several high-end guitars there as well as other gear and never had a problem.
  10. I was born and raised in the Berkshires in Massachusetts back when it was part of the USA.
  11. You might contact Gibson directly and see what they have to say about it. Sure is beautiful. I can only imagine how great the tone is.
  12. I didn't give it enough time to tell. As soon as I got the LP I changed it. The plastic was cut so badly I couldn't stand looking at it. I would imagine in some small way the bone does affect the overall tone - maybe with more sustain since it is denser than the plastic. I know for certain it has a large impact on my acoustics. In either case it would only be on open strings although some studies have indicated that even when a string is fretted the nut still has impact on the tone but I don't know how that could be. Here's a picture of the original nut - this is how I got it from Sweetwater: And this is the bone nut I installed:
  13. This is not a reissue but one I built from scratch using the original 6G16 circuit.
  14. The volume pots work with the tone pots and the capacitors to create filtering to sculpt the tone. The values they choose are going to give optimum control for a given set of pickups. Personally I wouldn't mess with them. After all, they did invent that circuit as a unit. Plus, changing out the pots on a 335 is a real PITA.
  15. You can get a little info here: https://authorityguitar.com/gibson-serial-number-lookup-decoder/ I would suggest calling Gibson customer service and ask them. SN's in this range are spotty to nail down precisely.
  16. A 355 is basically a 335 dressed up for dinner so a good bet that it's maple.
  17. Those guitars sound fantastic. Enjoy!
  18. Mine does not say "Custom" on the case. It has "Memphis" on the label but nowhere on the guitar or case does it say "Custom".
