  1. Norm has pretty good stuff, Joe Bonamassa buys from him of course Carter’s and Gruhn’s both in Nashville would be good choices as well
  2. (Maybe delete your other posts) the SG special has a “wrap around bridge” The first Les Paul’s came with a wrap around bridge as well the intonation was not adjustable and quickly dropped in favour of now stand TOM bridge and tail pieces many ignore intonation problems in favour of nostalgia The SG Special arrived in 1959 as the successor to the single-cutaway Les Paul Special of 1955–'58. The SG Special embraced all of that guitar's features, but its double-cutaway styling gave it a sleeker and racier appearance. https://www.long-mcquade.com/252261/Guitars/Electric-Guitars/Gibson/SG-Special---Vintage-Cherry.htm
  3. They said Electronics cavity, not the pickup area Probably means area near pots
  4. Don’t think anyone (most) remove bridge studs from the guitar while cleaning most don’t even like moving the bridge adjusters thimb wheels
  5. @B1029 even your “Matt” finished Gibson has nitro finish, they just don’t buff it as much; that’s why when you play them they get glossy
  6. That’s like 5/64’s , right?? capo 1, hold down 17th fret, you have around 5-8 thou of an inch at 7th fret? ( hint about the thickness of a business card, held under string at 7th) if it isn’t, adjust truss rod, quick google gave me this “For electric guitar action, in our opinion, a good default string height at the 12th fret is typically about 6/64th of an inch (2.38mm) on the bass side and 4/64th of an inch (1.59mm) on the treble side.”
  7. Epiphone does not buy guitars from Gibson they are a separate company, build their own guitars, they don’t buy guitars from Gibson the maximum ; they would pay a licensing fee but would not equal same as GC buying them to sell —- Sub-note: I’ve never seen a Greeny ad for an Epiphone, only Gibson 3 versions being flogged, didn’t know it existed till this thread
  8. It’s not a valuable 59 burst as I can see that it has a square fret marker on first fret, that would put it as a Les Paul Custom , probably black, possibly 3 pickups if it’s a 57, if from 70’s possibly 2 pickups If it has a “hump” back of headstock (aka volute) would be from 70’s
  9. Ahh I zoomed in it’s not a USB port on it - it's a latch ribbon cable connector but… we don’t see the other side but we can see 6 adjuster screw heads, it’s a bridge upside down!! so that would make it a Piezo Pickup bridge
  10. Wonder how I can turn this thread from an insane trade-in allowance , to who post’s stupid comments, why your strings can’t touch the back of the bridge when you crank down the stop tail🫣😂
  11. If the Lifeson didn’t do it before your mod’s I would start with going over everything the tech did with it
  12. No I predict the purple haze will not lift
  13. @marco mancini this forum although owned by Gibson is Only a fan forum Gibson doesn’t check here for any comments the admins delete post when they deem necessary, did I say were only a group of Gibson guitar owners here? Gibson does not care what their dealers do, Gibson only wants dealers to pay their bills its immaterial what your guitar on the used market is to a dealer could they give you $1200 for it and put it for sale at $3500 or $3000 or even $10,000? sure that’s their choice, you can’t dictate what the dealer profit margin is or will be you want what you call a fair price you sell it and combine that with other money to buy your dream guitar
  14. @Sgt. Pepper actually I don’t think Marco is arguing used vs new what his argument is: that he bought a guitar for 2,000 now on used market they’re going for $2500 So an increase of $500 his thinking is that a dealer should take it in at $2,000 (the price he paid new) because he feels they should be able to sell it for 500 more (aka $2500 used market price) they make a 500 profit. instead the dealer is offering probably something like $1200. Which is like 60% of when he bought it new as that’s a typical used trade-in ratio. he feels the dealer is “ripping him off “ as the guitar used is worth 2500. And that the dealer will make something like $1200 instead of the $500 he wants them to make in return he’s going to order a $5,000 or $6,000 guitar feeling that it’s only fair they deal with his rules of what’s fair to add to this thread: Marco feels that Gibson monitors what all their dealers do business wise and should dictate how and what dealers take in as trade, otherwise feel the wrath of Gibson when everyone else knows Gibson only wants to know, did you pay for the shipment of guitars and when are you ordering the next batch
  15. “Moral duty to satisfy the customer “ sure , yeah right no they don’t
  16. @marco mancini why do you think Italy is special? im in Canada, I was the first post that told you you’ll get 40-60% of the last ‘retail’ sale price, RCT also told you the same thing and I’m pretty sure his in the USA. so just because you have a Beato that used market trend is a bit higher than they first came out means nothing thats not how any business works
  17. In Canada you get 40-60% of what the place thinks they can sell it for Except if it’s got a high resale price like your Beato; then they’d probably give you 40-60% of the last known sale price its up to the retailer not Gibson
  18. @TROGDOR if you actually watched the L&M video you will see that the Tribute (aka model below a studio) has a maple neck such as you’re currently complaining about that yours has one and claiming fake, that was my point there are enough arguments about coil tapping vs coil splitting that it’s basically “splitting hairs “ on the function L&M is the retail outlet to Yorkville Sound the importer of all Gibson’s into Canada they’re not “sweet water”, GC , Music123, and will rent you a $4800 Gibson Les Paul or J45 for a mere $140 for a month you can’t get that from any USA based retailer I think your best bet is to return the guitar you currently have in your hand
  19. CS = Custom Shop.. they do not following the 'standard' (and every evolving and changing ) serial number sequences that Gibson uses you actually have to 'work' at getting info from Gibson on this. not as easy as click on this search link
  20. The amazing thing about acoustics is, if they’re not too dried out. you can rehydrate them and any wood gaps close you can’t do that with a solid body electric
  21. @Dub-T-123 I just thought it was odd that it’s a V shaped surface crack very close to how Gibson’s typically break their necks normally I wouldn’t mention much about finish cracking , you should see the finish crack I have on my Epiphone Sheraton near the heal of the neck
  22. Near the headstock, V shaped crack (on a V no less ). looks like the headstock/ neck were stressed, I probably wouldn’t take a chance and send it back
  23. @NighthawkChris actually it was Peter Green’s first. Gary second
