  1. Agreed. The only thing is if its a new guitar would the store be putting cheaper inferior parts in place and keeping the good ones to sell at a nother profit. 50.00 epi tailpiece verses a 150 gibson tail piece. Not the first time Ive read or seen it either. Be nice to know if its a new guitar or used.
  2. I just tryied one out today. A G45. Not what I was expecting at all. I guess for the money. It was okay
  3. Sounds familiar. I had a 42 Authentic D28 new from the store that came completely unglued top from the sides, sides from the back. All the binding was lifting as well. Bracing was all loose. , Not even 4 months of owning. They sent it to a Martin repair for warranty ,until I Was told they completely refinished the guitar. I told them to keep the guitar. Refund the purchase. New a 6800.00 guitar , refined 2000 ish if that
  4. Ive found most Brazilian guitars of the Vintage era.. have been safe.. at least for me anyways.. but that new law that went into effect on Indian Rosewoods and so on.. screwed up alot of manufactures and just trading accross borders in general... hopefully it will work out for everyone soon..
  5. Thats depends on what you are refering too.
  6. I have a few Acoustics with that brand on the headstock Also labeled as a Prototype A , B and so on. A L1 with a not for resale label as well.
  7. I thought you had Jibsons over there?
  8. I thought I read that Guitars with Rosewood were exempt .
  9. The perfect guitar does not exist. Doesnt matter how much you spend or who built it.
  10. True enough. I had one that had chunks of finish crumble from a guitar stand.
  11. You wear rings? Lean it up against a coffee or end table? Where you live at. Is it humid or hot?
  12. F holes on the L48 are larger or wider. L50 are skinny or thinner . Yours reminds me of 39 ,40s style by the logo Maybe earlier
  13. I agree with KS daddy Looks pretty nice.
  14. Ill take a look tonight at a couple wood and ceramic bridges tonight from the early years that I have. Im pretty sure they may have a groove but no plates to match.
  15. That j200 should have the word (artist) on the label. And the three piece was kind of common on the J200s and doves. If theres a 2. Its s second. Also the backs were laminated.
  16. You put a nitro side by side with yours there the same . Im not sure why this a big deal. AJs are cool guitars. Enjoy it. The more you play it the better it gets.
  17. Nope it does not act like a dampner at all. Fullerplast was only a a 1 step process to fill grain . A easy approach for the builder. But with this it had its down side. Checking . Nitro is able to flex. More and checks alot finer. These guitars are sent all over the world and all those climates are different along with humidity and dryness. But to hamper tone. Not at all.
  18. To be honest... I think you should Just enjoy it.. the AJ was and is a Fine guitar.. But I do think refinishing it would be pointless.. Its Not Old enough and its still only worth so much.. besides with a AJ.. looks is one thing.. but its the volume that makes it stand out.. I like them..
  19. Ive owned a few with the fullerplast finishes. And would not go out of my way to find another. The checking is heavy and not repairable when they start other than to strip down and redo . Nitro has its quirks but a far better product if something ever has to be attended too. I may add more wood friendly .
  20. Ive owned those as well. They were just fine.
