  1. I don't think the Rolling Stones are awful at any stage of their careers. I'm not sure if you have ever been on tour and have an understanding of how physically taxing it is not only when in your 20's-30's, but I couldn't imagine doing it in my 60's and 70's. Just singing backup vocals when I was on tour in my 20's was pretty draining. I think maybe if you don't like something that's fine, but when you try to speak for others taste to justify your singular opinion, to me that comes off a little arrogant.
  2. I don't at all see your comparison.....
  3. I used variable speed dremel tool using a sand paper roll bit on a low speed so that it wouldn't generate heat... I did the same thing with my GH Tele clone.
  4. Total $370 so far because I sold the original Squier neck for $140. The original cost of the Squier bass was $299.... Only thing left is to get some tape wound strings.
  5. What I don't get is another musician implying to another musician "they should give it up." That makes no sense at all to me.
  6. A little project I'm working on: The neck made it in and of course nothing is ever plug-n-play, but with a little massaging it fits nice and snug. I installed the tuners and tinted the headstock and neck with kiwi brown shoe polish paste and mini-wax dark wax as it was whiter than my feet. I had to ream out the peg holes a little to get the bushings pressed in, but not too big of a deal. Today is the string guide and the hootenanny strap button in the back. Then the 1966 headstock waterslide. I purchases a dirt cheap lefty Squire classic vibe 60's Jazz bass ($299). I added upgraded volume plate electronics which I already had. Fender Custom 60s Jazz Bass Pickups (which I already had). Purchased a neck with block fret markers with binding and rosewood fretboard. Found a 64-68 headstock waterslide logo (friggin expensive). Modified the existing pickguard for the thumb rest screws, added the 11th hole and dremel'd a trussrod adjustment access. Gotoh lollipop tuners. Polishing off the "Gotoh" and "Made In Japan" laser marking on the tuner primary gear. Purchased a new Fender USA bridge with grooved saddles Hootenanny headstock strap button. F neck plate with Pauls actual serial number stamped. My brother is making a metal punch with the Fender logo to stamp the tuner plates. Headstock String Tree. Fender ashtray set. As purchased: Current state:
  7. So I am now almost going on three months and I also purchased a left Fender Jazz Bass. Now that I am very comfortable with playing left handed with a pick, I have started using my fingers which is a bit more challenging. So I have made the decision to take Bass lessons at the Fret House. I also have my pal coming over to jam with me so that I can learn pocket awareness as a bass player rather than a guitar player.... two different worlds. He also likes electronic drums now. lol The Jimi Hendrix Room...
  8. I think there could be a physical issue Jon could be battling. I've seen the band three times during their hey-day and his vocals were usually pretty good.
  9. I gave it watch and knew going in it was going to be a bit of disconnect as the music industry at all levels took a hit to the gut during Covid. But overall it wasn't too bad and there were some great performances. I like to give things a fair chance.... I just don't want to be like those old bastards in the late 70's and during the 80's-90's that were saying rock n roll sucked because it wasn't like Led Zeppelin, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.... those old assholes really got on my nerves.
  10. "and rosewood from Brazil are carefully selected"................ I don't feel so bad anymore 😀
  11. I've learned that "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me" doesn't apply anymore.
  12. The resemblance is somewhat uncanny ..... This guitar is a monster in terms of brightness.
  13. Hope you don't give someone Covid that is immune compromised sick.... That would suck. Just me, but if I knew I had Covid, I would avoid people until I wasn't contagious. But it is nice to not have to wear a mask. for the first time in two years I went maskless in a grocery store last weekend.
  14. Our landscaper takes car of the lawns…. Well what little there is to take care of as we have artificial turf.
  15. I hadn’t been on for over a week and noticed I uploaded a reference image I was using to build my tele… See the actual images of my tele build. Man does this sucker have a bright tone. And I re-weighed the sucker on a shipping as per at work and it weighs 11.8 lbs.
  16. For some warped reason there’s a loveable harmonic that emits from you… lol
  17. Those embossed pickups were specifically used in 71-72. They were primarily embossed on P-90 (plastic and steel covers). Mini humbuckers and standard humbuckers all in the same time period (1971-1972)..... Then never to be seen again.
  18. It's not that random.... The Admin implemented some levers they can tell if the site has recently bad players trying to post from the same PC they were banned from under a different name. Certainly there can be glitches, and we have all seen them here. What I find strange is "bubs" prefix / suffix usernames have been tied to a specific banned member on three occasions. Mr. Brucebubs seems like a nice member, so I'm just going to leave it here for now and hope he can get it resolved on his end. Good luck
  19. If you get that message, in the top left corner is the static IP address, message me the IP address and I can tell if that IP address is associated with previously banned member. 1. You are using a computer of a previously banned member. 2. (Hope this isn't the case). You were permanently banned and re-registered with a different email and username and tried to use the PC in which you were banned from. 3. It could be a cookie issue, but not likely. A static IP address remains constant on all PC's. Those are the IP addresses that show up on every members post here.
  20. She's pretty. Now I need to take the strings off and solder it all up. It weighs 12.6 lbs. Total Cost = $1865
  21. Update. After almost two weeks it's safe to say I will be a left handed bass player. Everything is going much faster than expected and that's probably due to me practicing a minimum of 3 hours every day. It's funny how this exercise is sparking some memories when I was first learning to play guitar as a little kid. A combination of learning songs and chromatic fingering exercises has really expedited the learning process and I think knowing how to read music is helping on the mental part. Another thing that helped early on was playing the bass like a standup bass. This helped keep my perspective on the fret board as it kept me looking to the left (as one one would when playing right handed) until I was able to associate the notation with every fret. Now I'm just waiting for the "second nature" aspect to become part of the whole process. Every once and a while I still pick up the bass and want to play it right handed. lol
