  1. Well I don't think there's ever been a law passed passed by the senate mandating people with cars to stop at red lights either, but typically mandates are mostly enforced at the state level. The hope is that common sense will prevail with most people. The homeless aspect is very unfortunate, and I'm not sure how that can be fixed because there is no money / profit in it, like there is with homeless / stray cats and dogs.... It truly is a sad situation, when some people are more concerned about someone like Brittany Spears, (a person with a boatload of money). As for the president, I don't know the first thing about doing his job and what he remembers. I'm sure he and most ex-presidents have forgotten more about government than I'll ever know.
  2. If folks want to get vaccinated and wear a mask.... fine..... If not that's fine too. If a non-expert in epidemiology want's to go public and pontificate about a subject matter they know very little about, and people take it for truth..... well so be it. I don't know if it's just me being an old fart now, but it just seems to me that yester-years mediocrity is todays gold standard. So much dysfunction amongst people.... even good people. If there is a god, I'm wondering if he's now considering heaving comet our way to wipe the slate clean.
  3. So my obsession continues: lol So as I finished adding wax to the guitar and stringing it all up I noticed that George, Paul and John had this unique guitar strap with white adjustable buckle ends. Of course my search for this fell short, but I was lucky enough to find a strap with the same pattern but with black leather ends, so I purchased it and dyed the ends white (well still dying as it needs one more coat). Next, how to make the white buckle ends: I needed leather material, and found these low budge 2: white leather Perri's guitar strap to hack apart. Next ordered some 1" buckles from Amazon (but they sent me 1-1/4" so they are resending me 1" and should get them tomorrow). Leather scissors, and a leather hole punch and finally some Chicago binding screws. The project ran me $60
  4. In todays social environment you get the measure of a person not on the day they did the very, very best thing, but rather on the day they did the very worst thing. Kinda weird how we communicate things to each other in these times.
  5. My guitars are sometimes in cases, or all over the floor in the music room.... hanging on the wall..... some of them make it downstairs to the living-room couch and hang there for a few days... occasionally I forget about them in the garage.... they're kinda like a pack of puppies...... When you have 53 guitars in the house, they end up everywhere.... I don't freak out about the occasional self inflicted dent, I usually do a good job of making sure I don't slam my guitars against things. I did discovered my wife's swifter dusters to periodically dust the guitars.... but I only perform thorough cleaning when I change strings.
  6. If it's that important to you, you can send your inquiries to the local Coroner for more information..... That is the depth of the rabbit hole I'm going down regarding Covid.
  7. Gibson isn't gonna make everyone happy. 1. 1960's.... People are pissed that Gibson stopped making Les Pauls and replaced it with the SG. 2. 1970's.... People are pissed at Norlin with cost cutting and sending Epiphone products to be made in Japan. People are now paying a small fortune for these instruments. 3. 1980's.... People are pissed because Gibson tried to make super strats, but today people are paying a small fortune for them. 4. 1990's... People are mad again at Gibson for making pre-historic models not being exactly like a 1959 Les Paul Standard.... People today are paying a small fortune for them. 5. 2000's... People are pissed at Gibson for releasing custom R Les Paul models and complaining about the cost and rolling there eyes at relicing. 6. 2010's... People are pissed at Gibson for auto-tune, Robo guitars and richlite fingerboards. 7. 2020's... I'm sure people will find the same ol thing to complain about..... I dunno... Find a guitar you like and let yourself be happy.
  8. Not any more... logged out in 2016 to never return. People my age ruined it as it became an echo chamber for grievance. And the added bonus I freed up so much time. I was really ashamed of myself how I allowed Facebook to monopolize my time.... I'm a much better person without Facebook and Instagram .
  9. I merged both topics together
  10. Apparently cause of death was Covid related 😒.......
  11. Actually there was a great documentary that came out in 2020 about him and it was a fantastic watch.
  12. He was great.... I was fortunate enough to see him in concert... What a performance.
  13. I dunno..... I've always found if you have good / properly working equipment, the state of mind on the approach to music was heavily influenced by the quality of the tools.... Well at least it is for me..... Now when writing lyrics, any working pen, pencil, crayon and a piece of canvas will more than flip the bill. I will tone chase till the end of days. 🙂
  14. I was shocked when I found out the price, and this is no knock on the artists at Fender that are hand painting these instruments, because they are truly wonderful works of art. However, I would have given Fender $5000 for it, but $25k is just way beyond reasonable for a bolt-on neck instrument. …. But apparently they all sold.😳 I have to admit with the upgrades the guitar plays and sounds quite well. … And I gotta give George Harrison credit…. It truly is a piece of art in its own right.
  15. I did…. Every time I watch it there’s something new that pops out at us. three things….. 1. I really could relate to their musical approach to recording. The song evolving process was very much a great garage band would do in preparing for the studio….. very relatable and simple….. but ya… you gotta have great songs though…. Lol 2. They nailed One After 909, Ive Gotta Feeling (aka I gotta hardon), and Dig A Pony on that freezing roof. They should have went on tour…. They have a huge rock sound live. 3. I thought the lads got along good considering they’ve been breathing on each other since 1957 …… But all that smoking…. I’ll bet that studio room still smells like feet, farts and cigarette…..uggh
  16. When I first started playing guitar 9 years old (1973) it was all about the Beatles. Then on a cold brisk fall evening in 1976 my older brother took me to go see Van Halen at Pasadena City College. In an instant the way I viewed the electric guitar made a complete 180. On the way home all I could think about is how I could get a Marshall Amp and a Gibson Destroyer with one pickup. Pretty much for the next 14 years was all about heavy metal…. That one evening shaped me for better or for worse.
  17. So after watching the Get Back documentary five times… lol… I very much grew mesmerized by the Rocky Strat. So I figured I would use my $100 Guitar Center gift card I received for Christmas and purchase 2020 Fender Lake Pacid Squier Strat. With the open box discount and $100 gift card a $285 investment. Next I purchased a Made In USA Fender tremolo then added three Abigail Ybarra pickups, upgraded switch and potentiometers I already had. And had a neck plate made. Overall it took me 7 days to complete. Paints, brushes, finishing wax and other items cost me $270. So overall about $600. Still giving it a few more days to dry before putting on strings.
  18. Nyquil for a few nights then all was good.
  19. What is strange when I was in my 20's I needed to warmup and I couldn't play when my hands were cold and needed to be sober. Today I can just grab a guitar and play no problem with hot or cold hands, and play well completely drunk off my arse.
  20. We really enjoyed the Get Back Documentary. The one major thing I got out of it, that it really shows how lazy todays artist / musicians are: What bands / artist today can put together an album, video footage and a live performance in 30 days???? It made me think about Adele and how it took her 5 years to release her latest album.... The Beatles appear to get along pretty good, with the exception of George's little crying moments. I used to think John was the A-hole of the band, but to me he was the silent glue that held things together. Paul...well he's Paul. I had some trouble with how he was trying to convey his musical ideas to the other members. To me he kinda rambled a bit. And Ringo seemed pretty solid. Another thing is all the smoking. How in gods name they could all sing is a mystery to me.... or breathe for that matter. I'll bet those rooms and their instruments smelled terrible.
