  1. What happened is I played a guitar some time ago with a lacquered maple fret-board and the feel was awful. After that I avoided guitars with maple boards with the exception of a 2004 Gibson LPC I have that has one...... which I never play.
  2. Two of my very dear friends are police officers and they do understand the average good citizen takes them for granted and that's not what bothers them. It's when leaders at the top of the food chain do not publicly denounce violence, or in some cases promote it against law enforcement. It sends a horrible message to people that have little to no common sense, or the completely stupid that it's okay to abuse law enforcement.
  3. I think most of us can agree the Law Enforcement profession is a "dammed if you do and dammed if you don't" situation. It's been very difficult for law enforcement, especially the last 8 years for our folks in blue.
  4. My 2014 Midtown Custom has Richlite and to be honest it plays just fine. I'm really not sure how the wood species plays into the tone, but if there is a wood species I do not like on a fretboard it's maple. As long as Gibson doesn't use that on the Customs there will be no objections from me.
  5. Sorry to hear that. It really sucks losing someone so suddenly. Racing can be very dangerous and can just take one mechanical failure to change everything. I drag raced for about 15 years, but as I got older I became more cautious about putting myself in a position in being injured and forcing someone to nurse me back to health. Plus constantly changing clutches, pressure plates, flywheels, and clocking the scatter-shield every eight passes became tiresome. and rebuilding the TKO every year was no fun either. I sold both my drag cars about 10 years ago and my stress levels went down dramatically. My best time was 9.87 @ 142 mph with a 1.34 (60 ft) in the 1/4 mile. Once I was under the 10 second barrier I needed a different roll cage.... I just didn't want to deal with that either, as installing the first roll cage stiffened my back for about three weeks. But it was fun while it was still fun.
  6. We tried this one already and a certain member had to take it to an area that was just uncalled for. Basically this member will be perma-banned by tomorrow. For now this thread will stay active but will be heavily moderated until further notice
  7. Right????? lol.... When I was a kid we rode our bikes on the sidewalk and the crosswalks.
  8. It's funny you should bring that up: We had some friends over and they were trying to convince us to go on Sunday bike rides with them, and I told them there is no way: 1. I'm not going to get on a 15 lbs bike sharing the asphalt with 3000-5000 lbs vehicles. 2. Get on a bike that is 30x slower than a 3000-5000 lbs vehicles. 3. Create more frustration for the driver in a 3000-5000 lbs vehicles because I'm too damn slow to get out of anyone's way driving a 3000-5000 lbs vehicles. I know how frustrated I sometimes get when I'm driving and want to make a right hand turn on the red, and there this one cycler that is completely hogging up that lane, and is either oblivious that five other cars behind me want to make that same right turn. Or just a big enough A-hole that he or she cant waddle his or her bike on to the sidewalk to let the cars go.
  9. I've had the humidifier three months and the RH humidity had stayed over 50% had been idle the whole time, then yesterday the Jimi Hendrix Room went below 50% and it powered on. I've had a room humidifier for years and I can't remember the RH humidity ever staying above 50% for over three consecutive months.
  10. The hell it cant..... Every time I loop a Gibby over my shoulder, I feel like coolest old bastard in SoCal. 😄
  11. Most of the Epi gear is surprisingly impressive, but I look at it this way the $600 gets you 1/4 of the way to a Gibson, and I would just wait to get the Gibson if it were me.
  12. I can't believe a Sid Poole Les Paul is $16,000. I cant get six killer Gibsons with that money.
  13. I'm so jealous.... I miss having a pool. My back yard isn't wide enough for a slip-n-slide.
  14. But they were always still the Rams no matter wherever they resided. I used to fly out to St. Louis and attend games.... I met a lot of nice people in the great state of Missouri.
  15. I dig Jimi..... He had a loud vibe about his music. And of all the things I've read about him, it just seemed money wasn't the ambition for him.
  16. That got VETOED...... for now. She feels the full size beer fridge in the garage is more than good enough for beer and meats.
  17. We have a 4 bedroom pad and a 2-car garage so we are lucky enough where I can keep my work station madness in the garage, but the deal is I have to cleanup at the end of the day regardless of what project I work on. We also have a nice large landing area upstairs where we have the business area. The other bedroom is for the guitar cases and guitars that are in cases and for the most part they fit in the closet and out of site and used as a guest area. And the other bedroom is a guest area as well if friends or family get too wasted to drive. The one draw back is our backyard is quite narrow so we give up real-estate there, but there's just me, my sweeter half and Rocky.
  18. I grew tired of tripping over the PA tripods and hitting my head on the ceiling mic stands. I also updated VIP lounge seating area, as guests kept spilling beers and drinks on the carpet because they had no place put them. And most importantly suspending my 1960's Rams helmet from the ceiling. So I elevated the speakers and I repositioned the articulating ceiling stand booms, so that all you have to do when done is loosen and lift the boom.
  19. The seller responded to a couple of inquires I had. She stated the guitar belonged to her husband and was part of the divorce settlement. She stated the guitar pictured is the guitar that will be sent. She also stated the shipping was understated and it will be $90 and asked me once the parcel is delivered, if I would immediately leave a feedback, as Ebay is holding up the funds until a feedback is left. And if I could paypal her the extra $70 for the shipping on a different transaction. I responded if everything checks out, I would acquiesce to both of her request. .
  20. True.... But I have purchased from sellers with 0 feedback on more than a few occasions and the package was delivered and it matched the description. What's the worst that can happen other than getting a refund. Plus if the instrument does show up I'm gonna sell it for 3x the buying price.
  21. I'm not nervous at all. I'll give it two weeks and if there is no movement on the order I'll request a refund.
  22. lol. I don't think everyone... Most will help without adding snide comments.
  23. That's my thinking.... Although if the seller ships an empty box, that might add a wrinkle.
