  1. What do think about the Grammys? Not sure about whether or not I'm a fan. Sometimes they surprise me. Other times they totally let me down.
  2. Those are from 2018-19. They're technically both nearly identical. Custom Bucker Pickups and it does appear one has a more figured top. Seen a few on the interwebs and I like the color. Check out this video from Gear4music for the 58 cherry burst.
  3. Well,

I'll bet you get a lot of questions about that Cherry Red P-90 Les Paul Guitar.

What's the story and where can I get my hands on one.

Please give me the details, Mac.

I really enjoy it, the 50’s fat neck is nice to work with and stable allowing really low action.

  4. You mean people jumpin' outa' windows and looting and total anarchy? Oh, wait... that's New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles on any given day.
  5. So what's the big differences. Please don't say, "One Year." But really, what is the big difference when buying an R8 vs. R9.
  6. If I'm ever in the Boston area, I know where I'm going to eat. Looks delicious.
  7. I am truly grateful our forum is back.
  8. Regarding the use of foul language by black entertainers. Red Fox: Dirtiest mouth in comedy during the '60s and early 70s. Richard Pryor: Filthiest mouth in comedy during the mid 70s and 80s. Eddie Murray: Nastiest comedian during the late 80s and 90s. They all had several things in common. They were black comedians with a vulgar act. And we sat back and laughed our aszs off.
  9. With rights come responsibilities. Language that may be appropriate in a back-alley with your gang-banging boys from the hood is not appropriate in a school setting, a church (not that those who have a propensity for cussing and swearing will ever end up there, except of course maybe their corps) or at work. I try to tell this to the at-risk students I work with daily. Some get it. Others, well stupid is as stupid does.
  10. I believe that free speech is a right. So I believe in your right to exercise that right and say what you believe must be said. I will also defend your right to free speech. Unfortunately we are living in a time where everything we say is being weighed, scrutinized and judged by a "woke" mentality. In that I mean everything falls into the realm of social justice and therefor everything is suspect. It not only creates an environment of intolerance but a total lack of reasonable discourse to argue a point. There is no more discussion that can be reasonably presented because of the intolerant mindset which inevitably leads to a call of censorship and cancelation. In many of the woke's minds, it's easier to call for silence from opposing ideas, thoughts and reasoning. Calling for cancelation and silence of those who disagree with you is just wrong. Discourse and tolerance fall by the wayside as woke, social justice advocates scream, yell and shout down dissenting ideas under the umbrella of popularism, progressivism, wokeism, socialism, and authoritarianism. Free speech is ultimately silenced.
  11. Wow!!!! Chris, those are some fine looking guitars. That 59 is killer!!! I've never played a nighthawk, but those look pretty versatile. Is that gold foil pickup model or a mini humbucker?
  12. And that the mainstream media is absolutely corrupt and can not be trusted as a source of truth and objectivity. Oh and one more thing. A grave, mass psychosis has taken control of a large section of humanity. Many live in fear and are incapable of embracing freedom and liberty because they only believe in and answer to their totalitarian, autocratic, rulers.
  13. I was diagnosed with cancer three years ago. Lost my mother unexpectedly in March 2000, just one month after we threw her an 80th birthday party. So never live in fear. Walk in faith and a quiet confidence and assuredness. Be bold and recognize that all of us face trials and tribulations regularly. Work hard to bridge the distance between family and friends. So encourage and lift up your fellow man/woman. Make them aware that every day is a gift and you should be thankful for them in your life. Because I tell you this, on the days when my gratitude out weighs or is greater than my expectations, then I'm having pretty good days. I'm now cancer free for three years. Thanks Jim for the post. You my friend are near and dear to my heart. I'm thankful for you for your wisdom, your friendship, and always your insights and razor sharp mind for history. Todd
  14. So my point in posting the Black Crowes video is that for three basic chords (G, C, D) a band can get into a killer jam. The interplay between Luther Dickinson and Rich Robinson is a great example of two guitarists getting to do their own solos. For an added bonus, Dickinson plays slide in his second solo leading to the outro. I can appreciate that. Three guitar solos in one song, that's a good piece of music. As far as other slide players, Johnny Winter was a master of slide. I've been fortunate to see him twice (some 20 years apart) in my life. Yeah, a lot of folks play slide guitar, but Johnny was a master. Like his ability to play blazing, rapid fire triplets, Winter knew the value and usefulness of slide when playing.
  15. No. 1 Gibson would have to be my only Gibson. And my No. 1 Epiphone
  16. Telecasters are probably one of the most versatile guitars. They've been used by pretty much everybody at one time or another.
  17. My 2015 Fender American Deluxe is my favorite right now. But the guitar that gets the most playing is an old beat up Mexican telecaster I scored from a pawn shop.
  18. The Black Crowes do a great version on The Velvet Underground's, "Oh, Sweet Nuthin'" and for the most part it's simply three chords. G, C, D. With three guitar players on it, they really create opportunities for each to shine in such a simple arrangement. Take a listen.
  19. Wow. That guitar just speaks to me. It's saying ask Tman if he wants to sell it. Beautiful guitar.
  20. DanvillRob, Nice work on that lonesome tune.
  21. Thank you ME. Appreciate that.
  22. I'm not going to bother looking through all of the previous posts, but I wanted to reply with what I know about cowboy chord progressions. Generally speaking typical country progressions often involve only the I chord, the IV chord, the V chord and maybe the VI minor chord. In addition, the typical keys country songs are in is simply because they are the easiest to play on the guitar. In the key of G this would be: G, C, D7 and E minor. In the key of A this would be: A, D, E7 and F# minor. In the key of D this would be D, G, A7 and B minor. In the key of E this would be: E, A, B7 and C# minor. In the key of C this would be: C, F, G7 and A minor. I hope this helps anyone wanting to broaden their playing repertoire. https://i.imgur.com/qQHW0PHm.jpg
  23. Is Record Store Day!!! https://recordstoreday.com/PromotionalEvent/585 So are you into licorice pizza? I am. So is my son. It's been nice seeing his collection grow over the last couple of years. I see a few albums on the official web sight for Record Store Day that interest me. Alice in Chains will release, We Die Young (14,300 copies). Not necessarily a limited release, but it's Alice in Chains that I don't own. The original EP dropped in 1990. Bad Company puts out Live 1979. It's limited to quantity of 3,000 pressings. Originally released on 2CD in 2016 as part of the "Live 1977 & 1979” box, Bad Company’s 1979 set from London’s Wembley Empire Pool is the proper live album that the original line-up never had. Includes timeless live versions of “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” “Bad Company,” “Shooting Star” and “Can’t Get Enough”. It’s first vinyl pressing is this double album opaque orange vinyl release for Record Store Day 2022. Speaking of live recordings... Black Label Society drops a live double album called Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live. Only 2600 copies. First time on vinyl in the US. 180g 2LP splatter w/download card. Not included in the recent Black Label Society box set. I also spied a Slash & Myles Kennedy with the Conspirators Live From Studio 60. Limited to just 2,250 units. While I'm not a big fan of the band Sepulture, they are releasing Revolusongs with a quantity of just 1800 records. And for those die hard Alice Cooper fans is a 2 LP, and a record day first. (5000) The first US vinyl release since 2011 of the original eleven-song album. On Brutal Brown double 180g vinyl, pressed at 45 RPM, with a download card included. Brutal Planet Tracks are: Wicked Young Man, Sanctuary, Blow Me A Kiss, Eat Some More, Pick Up The Bones, Pessi-Mystic, Gimme, It's The Little Things, Take It Like A Woman, Cold Machines
