  1. . I've got a couple of Les Trems of a different design. The one you're looking at is more like a Stetsbar. The one I have is more like a Maestro. They're great as a traditional tremolo - no dive bombing. Use some lube on your nut and saddles (I installed roller saddles). Big Bends Nut Sauce. MF has it for $10 - http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Big-Bends-Lil-Luber-Ultra-Nut-Sauce-Applicator?sku=421531 The model I use has the closed anchor screw loops so it won't slip off when the strings are removed.
  2. . The noise from the protesting crowd was deafening. B)
  3. Gibson has a manufacturing facility in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. But are guitars made there actually stamped "Made in USA"? That doesn't sound right to me.
  4. Very nice. Tell us what she sounds like. Congrats. B)
  5. Welcome. My recollection = Manufactured 1983 - 1989 Mahogany body Bolt-on neck - some maple with rosewood F/B, some mahogany with ebony F/B (I think yours looks like ebony F/B ) Grover tuners. There's some different finishes, including solid color and burst. Some with Sonex Deluxe 180 pickups, some with Dirty Fingers pups. Yours looks like the nice version - ebony F/B and dirty fingers. Should be a very decent guitar for the money - if you like bolt-on necks (not a knock).
  6. Don't know how to break this on Acoustics -

  7. There's been a couple other members that have done this to their studios. I like the look. And your project turned out very nicely. Nice job.
  8. Possibly some kind of forerunner to the SG Artist, without the normal/bright switch circuitry - http://www.everythingsg.com/index.php/artist.html
  9. DH - That's news to me. I hope someone with knowledge/experience responds. I'd like to see what they say. I would suggest a gauge for the inside of the case to keep a handle on the humidity level. I've seen some posts about with over humidification problems when keeping the guitar and a humidifier in a closed case. It happen to me once years ago and fortunately the case was only closed for a couple weeks - no damage, just a bit of belly swelling.
  10. Hey truetone6 - That's quite a collection of P90 rigs. Sa-weet. B)
  11. Welcome. Nice LP special. B) Haven't seen one with binding before.
  12. Here's my twist - Les Paul Push Tone With quick swap pups (BBpros and P94 - humbucker size P90s) Here it is with the P94s in (my fav setup is P94 neck/BBpro bridge) -
  13. No preference. My collection runs from 50s baseball bat, to 60s tapers and compound radii TBone - Your 2010 Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute GT (on order) - did they give you a date yet?
  14. SG 3 - nice. MFG about 2007/8(?). I've seen a couple recently. Depending on the condition $1100 to $1300.
  15. Simply checking a serial number with Gibson yields just about the same result, becuase real numbers are showing up on fakes. Gibson needs photos and the serial# for a proper ID. Guitar Dater is a just one tool you can use to see if the serial number might be valid. Then, having a look at the guitar or photos, if you know what to look for, is also useful. Of course, there are those who use pics of real Gibsons to sell fake guitars - the ol' swap-a-roo. It's brutal.
  16. According to Guitar Dater - http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx 034570471 was made at the Nashville Plant, TN, USA December 11st, 2007 Production Number: 171 Here's some reference info for ya - http://www.everythingsg.com/index.php/sg3.html
  17. Man, those black 78s with the 90 are giving major GAS!
