  1. I wonder how much Gibson invests & pays him?
  2. If there never was a new one, you could never buy a used one… Every time you buy a new one somebody’s making money. Every time you buy a used one, somebody’s making money… Money makes the World go ‘round..
  3. Nothing against Epiphones.. Some good, some bad.. Nothing against Gibsons.. Some good, some bad.. Same with Fender, Gretsch, Guild etc… This Thread reminds me of the lyrics of a Song, ”If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with”.. LOL!
  4. A few in Gibsons Modern Collection start at $999 including 1 Acoustic…. Not many though..
  5. I have an Uncle like that… He’s a really nice Guy too. He doesn’t have to put on airs… Many of his Properties are on the Southern California Coast on the Beaches..
  6. Interest is almost nothing! $1,000,000 X 1%yr. = $10,000yr.…. $10,000,000 X 1% = $100,000yr.. You ain’t living like a King on that! Hope they don’t have payments on those Houses!
  7. I’m looking at new Cars.. I’m an old School guy who likes V-8 Engines. Strong, Fast, Reliable & give a Car great Ride… I checked out BMW.. Almost all are 4 cylinder regardless what Series it is.. They throw Super Chargers on them & sell you on ho Sporty they are.. Forgetting to tell you they're noisy & ride like crap.. Guess what? Mercedes too! In fact it’s almost impossible to buy Cars with V-8’s anymore.. There are a handful but they’re disappearing quickly! I have 0 interest in a Top of the line Performance Luxury Car with a 4 Banger & Super Charger. Or a 6 Banger with a Super Charger like the new Lexus LS…. I already got a Sporty Car.. Corvette with a 400 HP V-8 Engine.. If I get another it will have a V-8 or maybe a V-12? Not 4 Cylinders… If you want one, better get one.. That’s my current Car rant… Sorry to derail….. As for the Slash Guitars.. Aren’t they Epiphones? Who’s Slash? What was that? Like 40 years ago?
  8. I must admit Gibson spending a bunch of $$$ after their BK promoting an older Artist, Slash, who already had his day doesn’t seem like a great Restructuring strategy? I do think Gibson could reintroduce a Sunburst Firebird VII like Brian Jones & Keith Richards played. And a few other Guitars.. Also, the Epiphone Rivoli Bass.. Also the CF-100E’s & J-160E’s.. Also, the Terada line of Casino’s & other popular mid priced high quality models… I respectfully disagree with the OP’s statement re: QC for Epiphone vs. low end Squier in the same Price range.. I have Some Recent Epi’s that have xlnt QC out of the box.. I bought 4 Squiers that were POS & returned them all.. took 5 to get one that was decent enough to keep..
  9. I’ve tried them & many others over the years for my Gibson J-160E & Martin D-35 Acoustic Electric Guitars.. It all comes down to what individually we think sounds best… I’m preferring Martin Retro Monels because they have a really good Acoustic & Electric sound… Most Acoustic strings sound great Acoustically but not when you play plugged in.. Electric strings work great if you’re only playing plugged in but not when you play unplugged.. The Martin Retro Monel’s are really well balanced & make both styles of playing sound great! And, they aren’t ridiculously priced like some Strings…
  10. The Music is reminiscent of CS&N.. But, not a ripoff I liked it.. Love the Guitar!
  11. Besides a BB Gun & my Dads Guns.. My brother & I had Bows & Arrows.. Responsibility is learned.. We were taught by my Dad, Uncles & Grandpa.. We lived in Minnesota when I was a kid. City & Country.. My Uncles & Grandpa had large Properties & farms in northern Minn. on Lakes in Forest areas.. It felt like it was like the 1800’s at times.. It was a great place to be a kid..
  12. How does Robbing Liquor Stores at 10 with Guns have anything to do with playing Guitars? It’s funny how Threads drift….
  13. Very well done! Welcome.. Hope to see more of your Vids…
  14. We know there is a lot of hype! At some point you got to play the dang thing to know if you like the Sound.. Whether you buy it Online or try it in a Store or whatever… If you like it you can make up your own hype as to why your Guitar is the greatest, has the best Tone & has the most sustain! LOL!
  15. A lot of kids would go hunting with their Dads when we were young.. Being taught how to handle Firearms when you were young used to be a way of life..
  16. When I was a young guy I worked part time after School at a Music Store in Downtown Palm Springs, Ca. “The Music Machine” was the name of the Store. It was owned by 50’s Rockabilly Hall Of Fame Member Jody Reynolds best known for his Hit Record “Endless Sleep”. Elvis, Jody & other Artist played the Chitlin Circuit in the early days. Jody & Elvis became lifelong friends & would get together when he was in Palm Springs. Elvis’ Honeymoon House in Palm Springs was about a mile from the Store. When Elvis was in town Jody would supply all the Gear Elvis wanted for his Jam Sessions.. Elvis’ guys would come to the Store & pick out whatever Elvis wanted.. Jody instructed me to give them Carte Blanche & just write down all the Gear.. Elvis always ended up buying what ever they took. Jody would attend the Jam Sessions from time to time.. I always wanted to go but never got invited.. Although, Elvis would play Jody’s D-35.. Later my, now, wife bought Jody’s D-35 for my Birthday.. I still have it.. It’s Priceless to me..
  17. He didn’t have to.. I made a correction to my Post.. “King Creole” was the first…
  18. The first time I saw the King of Rock N Roll play a J-200 was when I was a little kid & saw this movie…. “King Creole” the next one was “Loving You”……..
  19. I have a Sunburst one on back order. None in stock anywhere.. Played one at NAMM a couple years ago & have been wanting one ever since.. Super nice Bass!
  20. After that last sentence you don’t think this will get Political??? The first paragraph is the Trigger! LOL!
  21. My wife bought my D-35 new for my Birthday. It is now 47 years old… If you read my Post re; asking Martin to refinish it when I sent it to them a few years ago for Repairs & Warranty work they told me “No” because it take that many years for it to get the Sound it had.. But, they would Detail it to make it look as beautiful as possible & they did… Now if you want to refinish a Solid Body Electric Guitar knock yourselves out.. But, If you don’t think Refinishing affects an aged Acoustic Guitar ask Martin Guitars… They’ve been around over 100 years & know a little bit about Guitars..
  22. I think it has to do with what Price Point Guitars they are Contracted by Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc. to build… The higher Priced with better Content & better Build quality…
  23. That Girl can Shred.. She should get together with Vai! I much prefer this version……
