  1. Really, the "Def" in their name isn't a misspelling of "deaf" but a common(back when they formed) slang term for "excellent". I can't find anything explaining the "Leppard" but it's not a reference to the animal known as a "Leopard". Most I can find it's the surname of some British born musicologist. Raymond Leppard. 2. I only had two Dodges in my life. A '65 Dodge Coronet 500: (different color and wheels) And a '64 Dodge Dart( after some a-hole totaled my '65) Most of my cars after that have been Oldsmobiles. A '75 Omega. '84 Cutlass Supreme. '91 Silhouette, '95 Silhouette and a '97 Cutlass Supreme. Whitefang
  3. I thought this was gonna be a thread about the way I dance. Whitefang
  4. And shop classes that taught how to make Bolo ties. Whitefang
  5. "Back In The U.S.A."--Chuck Berry Whitefang
  6. Reminded me. My first car was a 1960 Ford Falcon. Bought it in '69. Had it for a month, but it ran only for a week. Cost me $60.00. When it crapped out, my brother( a fairly good mechanic) determined it was the timing chain needed replacing. He didn't have the tools or space available to do the job, and every place I asked gave me prices that were up to three times what I paid for the turd. Called the junkyard which gave me $50 and took it off my hands. Looked like this one.... only black. Whitefang
  7. I agree that's part of the problem, but mostly, notice how when money gets tight in school districts it's the music, chorus , marching bands and other arts education that gets cut? God forbid they touch the athletic programs. Whitefang
  8. Don't give any of those morons prone to shooting up schools and grocery stores any ideas. Or suggestions. Whitefang
  9. "Walking On Sunshine"--Katrina and The Waves Whitefang
  10. Gotta remember. We're living in a country full of places that offers "E-Z" credit, stores named "BI-RITE" and the "RITE AID" drug stores, "SAV-MOR" drug and food stores and so on. Whaddya expect? Hell, I've even seen discount florists offer special prices for "BOKAYS". Whitefang
  11. They probably might have changed it to that because they were tired of detractors saying, "It's Toyota with a capital "TOY". Whitefang
  12. Like Murph, I was a Mopar guy when younger. But not being a mechanic I got tired of all the costly "differences" they supposedly contained. But those problems were never engine related. My first "real" car was a '65 Dodge Coronet 500 with a 383 sporting a 4 bbl. carb. Tuned just right, that thing was a bear. AND a perfectly sized back seat. Problems? The radio never worked right. When the wiper motor crapped out it needed replacing and that meant contorting in order to install it under the dash. and be careful you don't pinch an airline that controls the vents for window defroster or cabin heater. I drove an entire winter having to use my ice scraper in order to clear my windshield on the inside. But I loved that car. I'm hoping the idiot that ran a light and totaled it is burning in his own special corner in Hell. Not getting all that much for it from insurance, and not exactly rolling in scratch, I replaced it with a '64 Dodge Dart with a "slant 6". And I'll never say anything bad about those slant sixes. They were able to take any punishment you could put them through. In fact, I got rid of it because the differential went bad. And the only Mopar vehicle I owned that didn't give me constant wheel cylinder problems. But, being a GM employee and now retiree that always got and still gets the discount, I've owned GM cars for the last 48 years. Whitefang
  13. "Another Saturday Night"--Sam Cooke Whitefang
  14. In a way, he's still kind of on today. Without The Jerry Springer Show, there wouldn't be a Steve Wilkos show. Wilkos you might recall, was the burly, bald headed "bouncer" on Springer's show who eventually ventured out to form his own show, which isn't a far departure from Jerry's. Whitefang
  15. "On The Border" was one I liked form that LP. Remember how some people thought it was Donovan when they first heard the song "Year Of The Cat" on the radio? Glad to see he's still getting around. Whitefang, who'll add this for kicks.....
  16. I would imagine any wine that cost that much wouldn't come in a box. Like.................. I suppose it all depends on what you're accustomed to. Whitefang
  17. Feat, you seem to be blaming Springer for something that wasn't his fault. All he did was take H.L Menken's words to heart: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public". And his show proved that in spades. And I'll admit I watched his show every now and then for laughs. But more amusing to me was the HUGE amount of people who'd watch his show with the obsession of a Beatlemaniac. Now, I can't claim to know what percentage of the show's subject matter and guests were made up or not. But I've lived long enough to not doubt, based on observation, that a good deal were probably for real. But beyond the show the man has accomplished much in his life, and no doubt has many friends and family and other loved ones who grieve and will miss him. And he does deserve some respect usually reserved for the dead. Whitefang
  18. "High Time We Went"--Joe Cocker Whitefang
  19. Gawd. What an ugly piece of crap! Not really. I just wanted to be different. Whitefang
  20. Ha! Nice twist at the end. Most would think the letter from the attorney was something about paternity. Whitefang
  21. I'm not sure how that relates, but I guess nobody in their right mind quits liking their fond memories. Of course, I never had a shoulder high amp to hook a radio up to. Just a small digital clock radio on my bedside table. That was back in the late '60's, and we never got(or heard of) Wolfman Jack in Southeast Michigan back then. I first heard of him when my buddy came home on leave from camp Pendelton and told me about him. Anyway..... That clock radio had a small speaker that plugged into it that you could put under your pillow and go to sleep listening to the radio. In '67 I'd put it on a radio station that late at night had a show called "Michigan Movin' " that played mostly folk music. By the later '60's I had it on the FM band and listened to a variety of "underground counterculture" music stations. "Michigan Movin' " is where I first heard and fell in love with the music of this great lady..... From debut album "Song To A Seagull"('68) Whitefang
  22. "Sign Of The Times"(also known as "A sign of the times")--Petula Clark Whitefang
  23. Yeah, I think it's sad(and I know a few who've done it) when people quit liking the things that brought them joy in their youth. Especially when it comes to music, movies, books and like that. Good to know you have better sense. Whitefang
  24. Ya know, at first blush I thought the thread was titled "Paul Gilbert and Marty FELDMAN guitar battle". Now, that too would be something to see. But seriously, top shelf shredding. Whitefang
  25. Ah-HA! I THOUGHT there had to be detailing involved. I wouldn't pay that much for a car wash. Unless of course, it was one of those roadside car washes set up by high school kids for charity. I don't mind the idea of four or five nubile high school girls in swimsuits or Daisy Dukes getting all soapy crawling all over my car. Whitefang
