  1. Looks authentic by mine old eyes. πŸ™‚
  2. Every Saturday morning on radio station WVNN, there's an hour-long show called The Valley Labor Report. Now, the set up is that WVNN is a conservative talk show type radio station. (Local conservative talk show guys are featured all day, along with the syndicated Dan Bongino and Mark Levin shows in the afternoon and evening.) And Alabama is a right-to-work State, with a strong voting record (except for the rust belt region) of voting in conservatives to office. The Valley Labor Report show is decidedly not conservative, and is hosted by a couple of fellows who are pro-Union. They spend an hour each Saturday morning extolling virtues of Union membership, slagging evil corporations and "Bosses", and just generally dishing hate onto a certain former US President who sports a seriously unusual head of hair. I find it interesting, when I'm driving around on Saturday morning errands, to give a listen. The WVNN programming director has always tried to carve out some time each day to afford some local non-conservative type guys their own shows, I think in the interest of trying to appear non-partisan. But ratings (and advert sales) are king in talk radio, so it's a sink or swim situation for various liberal talk show hosts in the Tennessee Valley. Usually they sink. But The Valley Labor Report seems to have survived, and has clearly has found an audience. 😐
  3. Oh, one thing. The guitar came in this new Gibson black soft case. I LOVE this case. rct would love this. 😐 https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Product/ASSFCASE-BLK/ASSFCASE-BLK Big, sturdy, tough zippers on this bad boy. Made to last.
  4. Yes sir. She just arrived a short while ago. A fabulous guitar. And at 6 lbs, 9 ounces, the lightest Les Paul I have ever owned or held. Just tuned it up and gave it a shakedown cruise. Loving it. Slim tapered neck, smooth fret ends, and fantastic tones out of these pickups. Really, nicely made. Wish I had had it at the gig we played today. More later. πŸ™‚
  5. I have a lunch-time gig tomorrow, playing fun oldies for a large group of friends and a larger group of strangers. A big chili cook-off kind of thing. My brother and I will be plugging straight into my Fender Passport PA system. For guitar, bass, and vocals. Keeping it clean and simple. And so my wife accordingly promises to be home when UPS delivers this package from Gibson out of Nashville (around noon time or thereabouts). Life is good. πŸ™‚
  6. I think it's because of all the wisdom and stuff. 😐
  7. I literally just ordered it. It should be here in a few days. πŸ™‚
  8. Heck YES. I love it. The TV Wheat finish is my first choice. πŸ™‚
  9. My favorite one is, "Oh, you were in the Army and flew helicopters? How was it over in Vietnam?" American troop deployments in Vietnam were from 1961 thru April of 1973. That was a period when I was two years old thru nearly fourteen years old. I always answer, "Well I tried to go over there and serve, but they wouldn't let me out of Elementary School to go." 😐
  10. When you stop accumulating possession, and actively start getting rid of stuff. Just so your survivors won't have to deal with it after you are gone. (And so they won't say s#1t like, "Wow. Dad was kind of a hoarder. Who knew?") 😐
  11. I have never seen, nor heard of, a Gibson SG with "The Gibson" on the head stock. Now there was "The SG" back in 1979 or so. Similar model to "The Paul". Natural finish, very cool. Faded "Gibson" logo on the head stock though, not "The Gibson". πŸ™‚
  12. Whether it's guitars, cars, or women, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. πŸ˜‘
  13. Dude, This is what we use around here. And it's great. Makes killing flies (and black widow/brown recluse spiders) a fun sport the whole family can enjoy. πŸ™‚ https://www.bugasalt.com/products/bug-a-salt-3-0-black-fly-edition
  14. Really good stuff!! Sir Paul is alert, in the moment, and on top of it all. Thanks for sharing!! πŸ˜—
  15. I was given this Gerber Multi-Plier as a safety award, while working for the Army. It's a few years old. 25 maybe? It's only seen so much service, but it does travel around in my 'day at the shooting range' kit bag. 😜
  16. Lordy. Now she's getting a divorce. (Lucky feller. ) https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/maren-morris-posts-cryptic-message-divorce-ryan-hurd πŸ˜‘
  17. If money was no object, I would buy every economically-struggling high school new band instruments. 😐
  18. That Les Paul is a collector's item, and extremely valuable, because a lot of somebody's out there bought into the hype. Sure, it's a historically-interesting guitar. And it probably plays and sounds pretty good. But a half a million dollars? Hard pass. 😐
  19. Good morning, fortuneteller. The Murphy Labs Les Pauls feature a body made of Honduran mahogany and a maple cap, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The specs you find read like this, generally: Top Wood - 2-Piece Hand-Picked Figured Maple Attached with Hot Hide Glue Body Wood - 1-Piece Lightweight Mahogany Neck Wood - Solid Mahogany Digging deeper; Honduran mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) is grown and harvested in a variety of locations around the planet. Gibson has set up a global commodity chain that supplies them with 'sustainably certified' Honduran mahogany by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It is grown in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, though the majority of it apparently comes from the plantations on the islands of Fiji. That's all I believe to be true on the matter. πŸ™‚
  20. A blonde lady marched into the library very much upset. "I want to return this book, it is terrible!" she shouted. The librarian quietly intoned, "Please keep your voice down. What is wrong with the book?" "Well, it's got lots and lots of characters, but no plot whatsoever!!" "Ah well then. You would be the one who made off with our phone book." 😁
  21. Aw, man. I saw her live in 1983 over in Germany, at a USO show. It was literally in a large maintenance bay, normally full of deuce and a half trucks. Nice stage, great musicians, and Suzanne Somers sang and danced really nicely. She had this schtick where she would call up a soldier, and sing some sort of romance song to the normally-shy and red faced GI. Somehow or another, our Battalion Commander, a Lieutenant Colonel, got up and took the roll of the Soldier. It was hilarious. 1. He was a complete ****. Hated by all. Self-serving, arrogant. A really horrible person. 2. The crowd was booing practically all thru the bit, and Suzanne was a real trooper, carrying on with this perplexed look on her beautiful face. (Why are these Soldiers booing their Commander??) Other than that, she and the crowd had a really good evening of it. Good times, good memories. I will pray for her family. Rest in peace, good lady. 😐
  22. An absurd list. St Vincent ahead of David Gilmour? Jack White ranked higher than Chet Atkins?? Rubbish. Absolutely without merit. 🀨
