Wizard1
http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/114804-the-epiphone-lp-that-may-as-well-be-a-gibson/ This model was released over in Europe and will not be released here in the USA until the start of the new year. I found that i can pre-order this guitar for %50 down at mt local guitar purchasing location but i will still have to wait until they are released here to the USA from Epiphone. You can call Epiphone Gibson USA in Nashville Tennessee to confirm this. I want one also, which is how i came to find this out. Good luck to us all. slk
They are already here in the states. Gibson received a container from Epiphone a week ago. I have found out when you call the Gibson number you will hear a different story each time. I know of one guitar store that will have them next week in Florida. I still am not getting my hopes up for receiving one when promised. Of the 10 plus times I have called Gibson I have received 10 different answers. According to GC the factory rep from Gibson has verified that they are here and have to be inspected. How long this procedure will take is anyone's guess. I just hope they inspect them good. and there are no problems. Steve
burchster
I think my dream job would be being a final inspector for Epiphone...getting to handle those guitars fresh from the factory...of course I would make sure everyone I did had a good set up unlike most factory fresh ones. kensh999
The only place I have been able to see these available for sale on-line is Sam Ash (samash.com). Not sure why any of the other online retailers don't have this? I checked GC, MF, Music123, sweetwater and a couple smaller sites as well as Ebay. Hope this info might be of interest to readers of this thread. Have a great holiday, Ken
slk
Sam Ash ordered 3 of them. Two were special orders and were spoken for. They only had 1 left they could sell outright. This was from Sam Ash as of December 5th when I spoke with them.

I bought one today (have a FedEx tracking number) and it still shows in stock. I bet they got a bunch more (how many, can't speculate) since the 5th. Will be interesting to see how long the "In Stock" indication stays green. Ken

slk
Ken, If ya look now it says temp out of stock..order now...Bet you got the 3rd and last one they had. I don't understand at all why other stores are not choosing to stock them. It is the great mystery of the year. At least Sam Ash has a stock number for them. GC does not, nor anyone else thus far. I truly wish someone could shed some light on these guitars. Production numbers, etc. Steve

But I still find it hard to believe I'm that lucky; this seems like a super desirable Ltd that's been heavily promoted for the last several months. I should have mine Friday, will post pics and an initial review shortly thereafter. Ken
slk
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! I am sure you will be impressed. I know I was. I just wonder how many of these were shipped over on the container to Epiphone/Gibson.. The Gibson factory rep (not customer service) told GC that they were shipped over with tons of other guitars. If you look at some of the music stores in England now they are on back order there also. That is why I wonder how many will be made. If your serial number starts with 1408 it was made in August this year.
sdnesmithcpa
I bought one on December 15th from Sam Ash as well and it arrived on the 18th. As I mentioned on another thread my wife wrapped it up for Christmas so I have to wait to see it! Shawn
kensh999
Wanted to let you folks know I did get my Lee Malia Sig LP this morning (Saturday). It is a very lovely and versatile instrument indeed. I will provide pictures and a longer review at a later time. For now basically it's all good with nothing but very minor and typical issues on a new guitar. I needed to tighten the output jack nut, big deal. After I put new strings on it, it'll get a full intonation but the string height and truss rod are spot on and do not need any adjustment. The only cosmetic design issue is the white toggle cap, that seems out of place to me since all the other plastics are black (except for the nut of course). That's a personal preference so I can't ding the guitar designer for that... I will be replacing it with a black switch cap in the near future. Anyway the pickups are great and having single-coil options gives this guitar a wider sonic palette than my other LP guitars (currently a Gibson LP studio and a new Epiphone Slash Rosso Corsa). The neck circumference measures 71mm at the third fret, as compared to 70.5mm for the Gibson, 72.5 for my Casino Coupe and 74 on the Rosso Corsa, so it's just about the same as the LP Studio and is smooth and comfortable. I'll have some more thoughts when I post some pictures in the next couple of days. Ken
slk
They must have forgotten to tighten all the output nuts. Mine too!!!!!!!!!!!!I put 11 flatwounds on mine. May go to 10's flatwound. I am getting use to the 11's so I may keep them. The guitars seam to be setup pretty darned close to being perfect. Be sure to post pics. Mr. Semi
Greetings from another proud owner of this LP Custom Artisan. This is Bud Bremner from Vancouver and have had my name on Long & McQuades list since last summer and finally it has arrived, well a week ago anyway. What a spectacular guitar. I love everything about it. Some hardware issues that have appeared are tarnishing on the tailpiece, plating separation of the pickguard mounting bracket and the A string tuner is terrible, dry., grinding etc but all of these have been ordered. Following the serial number sequence seen so far, mine was also made last August in the Samick factory and ends in 00907. What's the highest serial number we've seen so far and would that be a reasonable way to assume how many have been built?
slk
As I stated in a previous post there were only around 1000 made, according to an extremely reliable source, that is in the know of such things. For the life of me I don't understand why the big stores like the Guitar Center conglomerate did not elect to order these in for stock??? The only thing I can figure is that Lee Malia is no so well known here. I am not sure I could even call what he does music, but he is extremely popular in Europe, and he seams to be a very nice person that obviously had good taste in guitars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. Semi
Are any owners of these LP's from Canada? I'm curious about how many of them have come into the great white north.
