When I played eclectics I tried Duncan's and never liked them. I think RCT is a fan of them. Lindy Fralin, now that is a nice pup winder. Lollar too, but 'spensive as all get out.

I have Seymours in all of my guitars(On Reverb, Pilgrims Projects, Hastings MI, hello John!), stacked singles and I use Jazz and JB in my goldtop tele.  I'm not a fan of Pearly Gates either.  They sure wouldn't work in one of my guitars, I use too much gain for them, they would get scritchy and brittle on me.

You might be the ideal person to answer this. How would you rate SSL-1s for trad Strat replacement? I'm not looking to buy; just curious.

I'd rate them a definite if you don't want/need noiseless.  Pretty low output like the old ones, which I prefer in a pickup.
