SteveFord
Oh well, it looks nice from a distance. That pick guard looked "off" and I do believe IanHenry is right about the jack location.

I had an old 335 with a coil splitting switch but it was a full sized toggle, not a mini one. tone suck device?

SteveFord
It magically sucks the tone out. Most people hate them but I think they're pretty cool.
Sgt. Pepper
Here is a guy you might recognize with a real one. The jack is on top, it has the classic tone such knob, but no little switch under the tone sucker. His has the Lyra, I guess that is what its called or call it extra weight, and the whammy for all his Steve Via-like dive bombs, and acrobatics, and the big old much sought after harmonica bridge. Sgt. Pepper
$800 not spent on a fake. I hope your friend didn't get taken, but you said some of the axes had paperwork. Well if a guitar can be faked, I think paperwork can too?
cunningham26
In my years of hunting i've found guitar messies to be more about volume than quality. even if you'd paid $800 it's not that bad, swap out pickups and maybe you'll have a decent plaer. echoing the post above i hope your buddy didn't get tricked too badly.
