What new music did you get?

My blue ray version of Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water should be here today or tomorrow.

A few weeks back I got Babe Ruth - Darker Than Blue : The Harvest Years 1972 - 1975. Killer weird English prog band I  never heard of before.

Yesterday my cousin sent me a CD. King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity. Trying to describe these guys is like trying to describe Tom Waits music to someone.  Their music is nothing like Tom's, but their own thing. All I know about then is they are from Australia and pretty bizarre. I do listen to Zappa and The Residents, so it is gonna take another listen or two, but its interesting.

Having put "Reminising" to bed after playing it in my music teacher's recital, we decided to start on something new for the next concert.

We came up with an instrumental version of Cass Eliot's 1968 cover of the 1931 song "Dream a little dream of me", written by Fabian Andre, Wilbur Schwandt, and Gus Kahn, (and first recorded that year by Ozzie Nelson and his orchestra).

I have a sanitized version of the chords that I found years ago on-line, but my teacher listened to the song a few times, and correctly scored the chords and fingerpicking from the Mamas and Papa version for me to practice from.

Who doesn't love tab books. Most are just wrong.

My teacher always complains about the inaccuracy of much of the music available on-line, or even in printed books,  and often modifies anything I bring him.

In the case of "Reminiscing", the score wasn't even available, and had to be determined by listening to the recording.

To score "Dream a little dream" he listened to the recording, as well as a karaoke version, and between the two, scored the fingerpicking and the very cool chords, but they are accurate.

I ordered Procol Harum - Live With The Edmonton Orchestra the other day. It has about 5 extra songs of them rehearsing for the performance.

My cousin sent me King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana.

They are coming close to me, but there’s just a couple outside big shows I don’t want to go to, and the inside shows there’s only single seats left, and you can buy a resale ticket from somebody who wants $200 for what’s a $60 seat if I want to sit with someone.

A virgin LP from 1979.

After my swim, I'm going to drop the needle on this baby.
