For P-90 Disciples

I know P-90 threads have been done, but I can't help but continually marvel at the sound of these little beasts. The tone I get from my SG Classic is like nothing a 'bucker or regular single could ever match. I love the biting treble, the obnoxious way power chords break up, and the responsiveness to individual note attack...just heaven. I even LIKE the bit of hum I get when loaded through my Mesa: sounds alive and ready to pounce.

Why do you love 'em?

I like the P90's in my Casino, the rest of the guitar is OK with its super skinny and noarrow neck and proepnsity to feedback when using ANY gain, can't even look at a gain knob without getting feedback.

I am actually gassing badly for a P90 axe and the SG Classic is a candidate. But that's not going to work out having just bought a Les Paul R8.

So I shall wait for an opportunity.

My secong choice is a Squier Tele Custom II with Dunacn Designed P90's which get good reviews, and the neck profile on those guitars is great since it has some thickness to it. A few mods like a decent bridge and 500k pots and that guitar would be great.

I love the sound of P-90's. I think, the best word to describe their sound is "Growl".

I don't think I'm going to be able to fight off the urge to buy one of these new 50's tribute studio's with P-90's...

I have a Jr with a Lollar P90. It has that distinctive piercing' date=' gut bucket tone. I also have a Hamer Special that has a Martin Barre Jethro Tull Aqualung thing going.[/quote']

Those Lollars must be something else; I have only ever heard raves about them.

I use to have a casino and it got pretty nasty...but was useless with any heavy OD or Fuzz...ie feedback. The p90 in the neck of my BFG is pretty darn toneful. It has just that right amount of mid hump to let it stand out...and sounds plain rude with a ocd in front of it. I'm with Jantha on being tempted on the studio's with p90's, just don't tell the girlfriend...meh.

I just ordered a Collings 290 that is equipped with the Lollar P90's, and gentlemen let me tell you they are awesome pickups. the Collings is also a damn fine axe, just a tad pricey, but hey quality is worth the asking price. I'll post pics once it arrives.

Great vid Californiaman. I love me some Social D.

I think the next guitar I get is going to have P90's. -Probably an SG.

The SG Specials remain relative bargains, especially used. Not only that, the fit and finish was - for whatever reason - far superior to my SG Standard, which I sold. You can also pick up a Hamer FM with the SD P-90s for bargain prices; i played one and liked it better than a LP Special.

I've got a '54 Black Beauty reissue with the P90 in the bridge and the A5 "staple" at the neck.

Play it through my 50 watt Bluesbreaker...love it' date=' love it, love it. [blink

My dream guitar. I'll have one before too long, but it'll be hard to hide from the wife. I love the sound of the P90s and the Alnico V. I have an SG classic as well, it sounds fantastic through my Boogie Blue Angel, it's a perfect match.
