Dot mods completed! Thanks, Lerxst, for the GAS!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

After seeing Lerxst's mods on his Dot...

Recently purchased this new dot at GC for 3 bills- didn't even gig or plug in-

just went straignt into surgery:

New bone nut; vingtage kluson style tuners; vintage black knobs,

and gloss cased GFS Mean 90's... Sounds amazing...

Also attached pics of Sheraton- Just got my Grover Imperials courtesy of

our very own TWANG!!! Thanks, man!

They came in today and took all of 10 minutes to put 'em on!

Thanks for the GAS and inspiration guys!

Jay

Really nice. The black PUs remind me of a 330 Ric I had in solid red with the black hardware package and black higains.

Was just talking to a buddy today about Gibsons as he knew me as a Ric guy. Took a 68 335 with a bigsby in trade for one of my Rics and it was all downhill for Rics and on to Gibsons and later Epiphones from then on.

Nice job Jay!

I have a Dot that I am thinking of modding similar to yours. I have a couple of questions:

Is the guitar made in China or Indonesia, and if so did you have to modify the hole size for the tuners? Did you need the bushings to make the Klusons fit right?

Did you need to change the pots when you changed the tone/volume knobs, or did they fit on the original pot shafts?

The Sheraton looks great with the new tuners!

Thanks for the reply.

Good Job' date=' Jay!! Cool!! Love the "Stair-step" tuner buttons on the Sheri!

I did that same thing, to my "USA" Sheri, some time ago. Love the look...

How does the Dot sound, now? More "Midrange" and clarity?

Hey CB,

Long time no see on the forum!

thanks for nice words...

Dot sounds amazing- punchier/growlier could best describe it when on overdrive

tonier, less warmer when clean...

Great! I'm happy for you and your new tone! It's always great

to find something that really "works," you know?

Oh BTW...I was in Colorado Springs, visiting family, over the "Fourth," and a bit beyond...so,

didn't have access to my computer! But, it's good to be back! Thanks...
