I set-up in a spare bedroom' date=' but I still have things in there I would like the wife and kids to remove. Getting rid of a set of drums opened up a lot of space. I keep the door closed during the day because my 19 year old son has friends that play and are in bands and them just staring at my guitars gets me nervous.[/quote']

OOOOHHHHH Mate can I relate to that!!!!

My son is 23 and yes is in a band (he can only play with 5 strings #-o )and yes some of his (strange band playing) mates have already asked to play a couple of my guitars to which I have replied "can you lend me a grand" they get the picture.

Cheers RR

Sometimes, one electric is on a stand in the living room, and another guitar - either my Casino or an acoustic is also in the living room, while the others are in their cases in cupboards.

If my acoustic is in the living room, I keep it flat on the carpet in a less trafficked area. I won't lean it against a chair or the couch as (1) there is a higher risk of it getting damaged in a more highly trafficked area, and (:) I figure that if somebody tripped over it or fell or leaned on it, there is a greater chance of the neck snapping.

If my Casino is in the room then I keep it flat on the floor (where I keep my acoustic), but in its case, with all clasps locked when not in use. I take it out several times a night right now. This guitar is more delicate than my acousic, and I also don't want somebody (perhaps me) to pick the case up without the clasps closed.

If you think dust is a problem for guitars, you should try to keep sitars dust free - particularly Ravi Shankar style sitars. The sympathetic strings on sitars are actually under the main playing strings, almost touching the concave part of the dand (neck). This is where borrowing (i.e. stealing) your loved one's make up brushes (is that the right word?) can help. A safer route might be to guy a cheap paint brush.

Actually instead of a bathrobe, I had a really cool idea.

Go to you local fabric supply store, get some fabric glue (they have spray on kind and it holds REALLY well).

They also generally have scrap bins where you can get a piece for like $5 or so. Or buy some nice fabric.

Cut two pieces out in a triangle type shape and glue the edges together.

So for less than $20 you can have a customized dust cover for your guitar.

I think I'll try make a few myself this week and post then.

I like that. See if you can get a gauzy material that's at least partially see-through so you can identify your guitars. Don't forget to post them.

Hola! Haven't been around these here parts for awhile. Still smells like GAS..

My wife got tired of me having guitars leaning everywhere, especially since our apt. is very tiny. So I invested in two wall hangers in addition to a stand. I have seven geets, so three are always out, the rest are in cases. I rotate them every month. It works out great, except she always catches me staring at them and thinks I'm some kinda' weirdo. My archtops look sooo cool on that wall! I noticed I play alot more, too.
