Epiphone "Limited Editions"...and, how many of you have them?

Based on a dicussion, in another area of this forum,

I wonder how many of you have "Limited Edition,"

Epi's...and were they more expensive, or less

(as has been stated, by some) than the normal run

of same/similar model? Also, did you get them from

an authorized Epiphone dealer, E-bay, or one of the

on-line retailers, as part of their "exclusive" rights to

sell such?

Just curious...

I have 2 Limited Edition Epiphones. One is a sunburst '57 JR. RI and the other is a cherry '65 G-400 with Maestro Vibrola. I bought both of them from an authorized Epiphone dealer. Not sure about the cost of the G-400. When I got it MF had already sold all of theirs, but it was more than a regular G-400. I had owned one other Epi when I got the G-400, about 30+ years ago. The JR was also another guitar that had already sold out, but I was quoted a lower price by mistake and they stuck to it since I had it in writing.

I have two G400s. The LP Custom is a Limited Edition, but I got it at a discount (from MF) because it was a b-stock.

The '66 RI says "Custom Shop" on the back, and was purchased from Music123 at a discount with a % off savings deal.

I don't know how the prices compare with a regular G400, though.

I have an Epi Korina wood Moderne that ended up being a limited edition because they were not hot sellers - I guess nobody wanted them. I like it and it plays absolutely great! I bought it at Mars Music when I was stationed outside of DC for $234.

Well,

As many of you have seen recently, I have the Casino with Bigsby, which is listed at €100.00 more than regular Casinos (though I don't know what the story is, because they are listed as 'discontinued' at American online shops, but Thomann.de is supposed to be getting them at the end of October). I paid a good bit more than I would've had I bought a regular Casino at Thomann.

I've also been interested in a Custom Shop Ltd. Ed. LP with P90s, gold hardware, ebony, which no one on that side of the pond seems to know about, and that is going for €569.00, which is + €169.00 over the '56 Goldtop. After the Casino, though, my wife asked me to refrain from the LP. Given that I now have 11 guitars, I decided that I would not feel too deprived by passing on it.

Cheers,

Glenn

stan58: I LOVE the color of that LP. THAT is nice.

I have a few Custom shop Epi's. I have started collecting them.

They "Seem" to be put together better, but the main difference that I have found is that there is just something different about them than the regular production models. For example, I have a G400 with em'gs that is CS Epi. I have a Wildkat that is an off white color. I have an EPI LP Studio that is a beautiful deep burgandy wine color.

Not better, not worse or cheaper, just different in some ways.

Yeah' date=' Dalron...those are nice! I almost bought one, myself. But "resisted," that GAS attack.

How does it play/sound? Is it still "Stock?"

Yep ... still stock. It sounds great to me but I'm a beginner so to me all the pup vs pup arguments are out of my experience.

Well, I guess I'm (now) a proud owner (or, almost...since it hasn't arrived yet) of the "limited edition" Riviera,

everyone's been drooling over, for the last 2 days. Just got off the phone with MF! Bought it, and a Epi hardshell

case, and got the 10% discount...so, essentially I got the case for 40 bucks! I need another guitar, like a hole in

the head, but "need" has never been an issue, when it comes to GAS and buying lovely guitars! LOL!

I just hope it arrives "safe and sound?!"
