Has anyone put a Bigsby on a Casino?

Hey all,

I'm really thinking about putting a Bigsby on my Casino. Do they stay in tune pretty well? Any reason I shouldn't do this?

Bigsby's website recommends a B7 or imported B70 for a 335 or Epi Sheraton, I'm assuming this would be the same one I need for my Casino?

I also need to change the saddles, correct? Do you use roller saddles or what?

Any tips on installation?

Thanks in advance!

I've heard the B7 is pretty reliable (standard). The B70 isn't that cheap either.

I don't know about the others but I knew a guy who used a B6 with no problem although just about every other Casino i've seen with a bigsby has been the B7(0)

U2 recently did a concert at the BBC in London. On one of their new numbers, The Edge used an Epiphone Casino, looked late 60's, early 70's, with a Vebrola. These look much more original than that great lump of a bigsby. Have a look here. http://www.marshallparts.com/categories/34/5/Bridges-Bridge-Parts-and-Tailpieces.htm

Ive got a 96 Peeless Casino and will be keeping that stock. The job is simple enough to do. Kit comes with templates & screw etc.

Couple fellers you might have heard of put Bigsbys (B7) on their Casinos. Didn't seem to interfere with their playing none. Paul McCartney and George Harrison were their names.

I put one on mine too (even though you probably haven't heard of me), and it not only works great, it also counteracts the neck-heavy tendency of the Casino sans-Bigsby. Here 'tis.

Yeah I've got a 96 Peerless one too, same finish. Also got two others. Only guitar I'd really play live. Not too keen on solidbodies and i like the lightweight feel and p90 sound. I quite fancy putting a bigsby on a casino. Maybe if I win this one...

Bridge and nut need to be reversed to make it back into a right handed so considering it has two holes in it already...

Yes I've seen that one. As it's already got some extra holes in it & you need to change the nut, will make a good little project. Good Luck.

I put a B70 on my epi lp,

and ButchCassidy put a B700, *same only black* on his sheri.

they fit nicely.

You can pay the extra money if you want, for the B7.. I have no problem at all with mine.

Fitting to a casino would be easier than with a sheri, since you already have a trapeze tail.

They line up slick, and look great.

I used a roller bridge on my epi lp.

The Schaller requires different bushing holes though, so I don't recommend it, since there are roller bridge that will use the same bushings.

Here's my three epis

here's my lp with b70 bigsby.

I've always throught about installing a Bigsby, mostly because the Casino is the best guitar to do it to - there are no holes to cover because of the trapeze tailpiece.

But considering the amount of use the trem on my Strats get, I don't think it's worth my money.

I'm now considering one for the Melody Maker (which I don't have yet), but that's just for the sake of modifying the guitar... again, since I probably won't use it.

I just sent my Sheri to my tech to have a B7 installed. Was tempted to try and do the job myself but had second thoughts last minute. Something about drilling into that Elitist finish which just scares the living sh@*_ oyut of me!!!

I asked my tech about the bridge, he recommended leaving the standard ABR-1 bridge in and trying it this way before condidering other options. He also is not a huge fan of roller bridges....

Will post pictures as soon as i get her back... can't wait!!!

A Bigsby Trem and a Fender Strat Trem sound and feel completely different. And when you're not using the Bigsby, the arm stays nicely out of your way. I have both, and prefer to use the Strat as a hardtail. I pretty much only use the trem on my two Bigsby-equipped guitars (Casino and 1968 Guild Starfire III)

I just got my Peerless ebony Casino done...I put a black B-700 Bigsby on her with a black wilkinson roller bridge...I also had the nut sloted for my strings and was adviced to use "nut sauce" whenever I change strings...

Now it stays in tune...before that forget it...! :-

Just something to contemplate. The B7 is a heavy sucker, and will make the guitar unbalanced, I put one on my Riviera which I regret sometimes due to the weight, and change of tone. The Riv' had this nice airy sound similar to the Casino with the trapeze tailpiece, although the B7 gave it a little more sustain, I kinda' wish I never messed with it.

I've mean't to put a set of Grover tunamatics on it to try to counter balance the weight, but haven't got to it yet. Maybe someone with the B7 already installed can give you more insight. I think I'll just leave my Casino as is, though very cool looking, I'm happy with it as is...
