I own sheraton and supernova, so far the serial numbers on the orange sticker must gose like " R04B 0988" first 4 numbers space and last 4 numbers. but this one gose like "R04B0988" has no space between first 4 and last 4 http://img1.showpic.in.th/pic/bd1/bd156287f0af18fb67e0a0d8e5c8a005.jpg and last the bottom of mini humbucker doesn't have Epiphone trademark actually maybe it nothing, it just my stupid question. please suggest.... thank you //sory for my English
pohatu771
My Peerless Casino has no space in the serial number. The logo on the first headstock is using an "Epiphone" script, while the second one has a font generally used on Gibson copies.
sickboy
thanks : pohatu771 what about the bottom of mini humbucker doesn't have Epiphone trademark and I used to own 1998 Riviera VT. feel like the neck must thiner than this one, this one the neck kinda thick. pohatu771
Do both pickups have nothing on the bottom? It's entirely possible that they aren't original pickups, and it's possible that the pickups weren't branded anyway. I don't remember if my Casino has any stamp on the P-90s. sickboy
the bottom just has sticker "bridge pickup and neck pickup" and some numbers aye, so this one is not fake epiphone eh?
peeper
The last "E" in epiphone looks weird to me (as does the hole name really). Anyone else seen the trident "E" at the end of Epiphone?
Bruce_09
The last "E" in epiphone looks weird to me (as does the hole name really). Anyone else seen the trident "E" at the end of Epiphone? Yeah, my Dot has 'EpiphonE' written the same way as this. Here I was thinking that the E on the truss rod cover looked odd.... I guess these things aren't REALLY that important... pohatu771
The last "E" in epiphone looks weird to me (as does the hole name really). Anyone else seen the trident "E" at the end of Epiphone? That's what they look like on Musician's Friend, as does the Peerless Casino I have in my hand at this very moment. It's just the Epiphone script. It's on all of their archtops, all of their acoustics, and any Epiphone original solidbodies. It first appeared after Gibson took over (to the best of my knowledge). Pre-Gibson instruments had any number of font styles, including the one found on modern Masterbilt guitars.

mgrasso
My Riviera is from the same year and plant. I had not noticed the epsilon e at the end of the logo before now. Great guitar though. If you are hesitating on buying it, don't. Go for it. You won't be disappointed. mg

cunningham26
Rather than start a new thread on the same subject, I figured i could threadjack since this one's about done. I have watched this riviera come up on ebay a few times, and I'm wondering what we all think. My only concerns is that the serial number is unrecognized by guitar dater, and did Peerless ever make riviera RI with full sized pickups? no affiliation of course with this other than possibly pawning xmas gifts to buy it: http://cgi.ebay.com/Epiphone-Riviera-335-Gibson-Superb-Condition-w-Case_W0QQitemZ120509544998QQ Here's to hoping I get into a bidding war with someone from the forum! charlie brown
Looks just like mine...great guitar! ($300 bucks, "new" and not a 2nd, off e-bay)...2 years ago. It was weird....1 put in one bid, and no one bid against me...so, I got a really good price on it! CB

It is often wrong, just as its often right. It should be used in conjunction with all the other tools you have available to make an informed decision. It's when you have three red flags all in a row that you should question what you are doing. (non sense serial, fishy looking workmanship, non offered color...)
