RayG
Rick Derringer. Don't know the real name, but he was born in Ohio. He was also around 17-18 yrs old at the time of the video. Regards----------------
cjlandry
What is there to "live down"? That's one of the all time great classics! Seems his name was Rick Zingher or something like that.
L5Larry
can you believe he ever lived this down? Live this down? He's probably still taking this to the bank.
Bowdiddley
WOW!!!!!!! What a bad flash back of my mom and pop dancing back then. Didn't know that was Rick in that band!
jnastynebr
I don't know who Rick is, but I like the song. The video is cool, too. I wish we had a bunch of dancers.

damian
Yup, I always knew it was Rick; My mistake for years was thinking the song was 'Hang on Snoopy'......!!!!
jaxson50
Sorry about the "live down" comment..I thought some of our younger members would think the song was lame....I'm glad there are so many who enjoyed it. I always liked the McCoy's. His birth name is Richard Zehringer, his brother Randy played drums with the band..
Rocky4
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the McCoys wound up in Johnny Winters band. I know Derringer was on the Live And album. The McCoys replaced Winters bass player and drummer who wound up backing SRV.
Dennis G
What is there to "live down"? That's one of the all time great classics! The band I was in in the mid '60's used to cover that song, and if you needed a "get everybody's a$$ on the dance floor" song, that was IT. For whatever reason, people just went bonkers when you played it.
Mr. Natural
Rick is affiliated, in some capacity, with Warrior Guitars. Warrior always has a big set-up at the Dallas Guitar Show every spring, and Rick is always there. He's seems like a regular guy.
cjlandry
The band I was in in the mid '60's used to cover that song, and if you needed a "get everybody's a$$ on the dance floor" song, that was IT. For whatever reason, people just went bonkers when you played it. I was born in '66, but I remember hearing the song for years, and when my parents had a party with their friends, they always had that song on the juke box. You're right. It always got 'em dancin'. (Yes, we had a juke box in our house.)
