IanHenry
One of the U.K’s best new bands, The Union (check out their début album here: http://www.theuniononline.com/media particularly Easy Street) have become involved with a charity, Child Line. They have started a competition to win a guitar signed by a lot of celebrity guitar players, and I was wondering if it is a real Les Paul or a copy. It’s still a great prize even if it is a copy, and it is for charity, but I just wondered if some of the Gibson experts on here would be able to tell from the photo: http://www.theuniononline.com/ttny/ Regards, Ian. BigKahune
. With the little there is to look at, it has some items of concern - fretboard species, pot position, bridge posts, nibs, etc. ... I'm no expert, but the fret markers should be trapezoidal, shouldn't they? ... Might be a "real" Epiphone LP Custom - multilayer body binding, Rosewood with block inlay - Gibby LPC would usually be Ebony with block.
ChanMan
As I said... I'm no expert :) I did do a cursory search at MF friend and couldn't match them, though. I'd say it has more the look of an Epi Les Paul than a Gibson, but I'm still going with a copy.
neilpanda
the binding doesnt have any "nibs" as they call it. could be a nice copy though. anyways...a real Gibson neck binding should look like this. and this on the guitar
Tim Plains
Definitely no a Gibson. White Gibsons have Ebony fretboards Not always.
ChanMan
Check it White studio w/ rosewood fretboard The picture clearly shows a rosewood fretboard.... the description clearly says it's ebony..... Not that there would be any ambiguity.
BigKahune
Gibson - there's almost always an exception. I see on some of the Historics, the nibs only come half way up the bevel on the fret ends.
