install switchcraft in my lespaul standard

A few week ago i posted that i needed a switch. Some members gave me some brand name. So i got a switchcraft from allparts. I received it today and in less than half and hour i replace my switch. The swap was real easy and the result is amazing. The switch is really smooth to change from one pickups to the other. Mine was never that smooth. It was real stiff and i didn't like the feel.

Thank to those who help me.

I wonder how many people have actually compared the stock Epi toggle switch to a Switchcraft?

It looks quite the same to me just smaller

and much easier to deal with on an SG than the right-angled long shaft Switchcraft (sometimes a hard fit on the Epi SG)

LP on the other hand I like the long Switchcraft for. It's easier to deal with there due to the depth of the compartment on the guitar.

Yeah mine has crapped out on my Casino but anyway I look at it it's $50 for a Switchcraft, locally or from the US. Paying that price for a simple switch annoys the hell out of me so it's been crook for 2 years now and will probably remain so.

In a Epi LesPaul it's better to used the short version of switchcraft switch because it has longer treads. The top of and Epi is thicker than the Gibson. A long switch have shorter tread and fill not fit as good. You might need those offset nut screws.

Compared side by side the Epi switch has plastic parts but they do look similar on the mecanism.

Does the Switchcraft not fit at all in the Epi? From another forum: "Be aware that the switch is a metric sized switch in an Epi - an Imperial (Gibson or Gibson aftermarket like Switchcraft) switch wont fit through the hole in the top of the guitar. You can widen the hole a little. Dont drill - use a file or sandpaper round a pencil, work from the back. Be careful."

There must be other switches available in OZ for a fairer price ??

Digger, PM if you want me to ship you something from the US. Have done for Rastus in NZ, and it seemed to work out.

Switchcraft 3-way toggles are about $20 and I can tag it onto another order if you're not in a hurry to get free or reduced shipping.

It's no sweat for me, I have a US post office, UPS and Fedex drops all within a Kilometer and have to go there often anyway...

Brian,

I gave you a point for the consideration alone....I'd have given you two but that's all it allows.

Yeah, you might have to make the hole bigger, not a big deal though. Switchcraft switches are definitely better than the stock Epi switches, period.

Good to see you post Digger. Haven't heard much from anyone on the EpiWiki forum since it shut down.

I didn't have to do anything. It just fit perfectly in place. Make sure to used the short one.

Does it have to be a short one? Does Switchcraft make a short one that will fit? If so do you have a link to where I could get one?

I just got a used Epi LP Standard in ebony like yours. It's beautiful!

Brian,

My apologies mate, I have just came across your kind offer right now as I don't visit this part of the forum very often. I will send you a PM and perhaps when you are ordering something else it might be convenient to pick up a switch for me.

G'day JC too. I usually have a look in the lounge most mornings and then move on to other places I frequent. To be honest I haven't played much guitar for the last 12 months and have even given up lessons. I just couldn't remember anything and thought I must have the onset of dementia!! (many here would agree)

In fact I have been running down for the last couple of years and even just walking to my shed up a bit of a hill left me gasping and my legs were screaming out for lack of oxygen.I was out of breath for ages......lungs are good so I couldn't understand it. I have had no interest in doing anything at all for the last little while.

After a battery of tests it was established that I have very low levels of vitamin B12 and apparently that is what helps transport oxygen around your system. No wonder I can't think or do much as even slight deficiency in B12 causes mental incapacity and a raft of other physical problems. My levels were very low!

I am currently on a course of B12 injections and it's hoped that within a month my levels will be back to normal. Hopefully I can resume my life then and will become interested in playing all these beautiful guitars I have sitting around.

This is a great outcome as other problems might have involved surgery and been far more serious.

Sorry to talk about illness here but I though for those of you that I have known for a while, including at EpiWiki, it might explain my recent apathy.

It's early days yet but I am hoping I might be able to get my life back and am excited about the prospect.

Dig, do you still need that switch? If yes, do you know which one?

Cheers, Brian

PS, your mailbox is full....

Sorry Brian,

It's been a bit busy here of late and although I did intend to drop that switch out and photograph it, I just didn't manage to do so yesterday...sorry. I need to attach something to the toggle switch first so it can be pulled back through. Try to do it today mate.

I have deleted some of my messages and didn't realise that it was a problem before this. Not that familiar with some of the operations on this forum as yet as I don't spend much time here.

Thanks again.
