ShredAstaire
I could see that even without the comparison. You should send that pic to your dealer and ask why they sent it to you in that condition?

NeoConMan
So - what's the best lemon oil product to use on Gibson boards? Fret Doctor is a bit over-priced, eh? But I've heard bad stuff about buying generic lemon oil at the hardware store. What's a Gibson owner to do?
Riffster
A bit dry? that fretboard looked parched!
NeoConMan
Huh? ALL of mine look like that. When I sweat on them, they glisten wonderfully!
rocketman
I think that Fret Doctor is well worth the extra cost: Before Fret Doctor After Fret Doctor Of course most guitars are not this bad. But I've tried almost every product on my fretboard and I swear by Fret Doctor. Here is a great article by Ed Boyle, owner of Fret Doctor. Note that Ed says that some oils are probably OK, but "make sure they don't contain solvents like naphtha or other petroleum distillates." Anyhow, I've been very happy with Fret Doctor. NeoConMan
Okay - Fret Doctor it is. Maybe I'll stop by Guitar Center and pick some up... What's it usually cost?
Searcy
I use Fast Fret. I've had the same can for about 25 years.
rocketman
You'll need to order it from Ed's website, found here. It's $4.95 plus shipping for 10 ml.

retrosurfer1959
I use Fret Doctor also it's great stuff and even though it's expensive it's well worth it a small bottle lasts for years even with all my guitars. I dip a q-tip in the bottle and lightly wipe the fretboard let it soak in for a while and clean off any excess with a clean cotton cloth. Usually only takes 3-4 drops to do a neck. I don't like to use regular lemon oil on necks anymore it has to much crud added and builds up and/or get's sticky. Regular lemon oil and too much water are the main two explanations I usually hear when somebody has popped frets and/or cracked a board.

djroge1
I've been using lemon oil on some of my guitars like my '78 Les Paul for around 30 years - could any complications arise by switching products after this long?
