cookieman15061
Just read and interesting article in our local paper on how its popularity is on the rise. Which begs the question do any of you folks enjoy playing the ukulele? I think I'm gonna get me one. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11135/1146239-388.stm

BigKahune
. I had one years ago. Tuned it like a guitar (D G B E) and used it when writing and working passages out - because the size is so easy to deal with.
Crocstar6
It would be cool to have a mandolin or ukelele just because its so much more portable.
Versatile
The ukelele is not on a comeback... It never went away...!! Every home should have one Mine is green and was dirt cheap I draw inspiration from the Ukelele Orchestra Playing Smells Like Teen Spirit..... V
cookieman15061
Well here in the US the uke was killed off by Tiny Tim back in the 60s but I was in a GC today and they had a nice display of them just as you came in the door.

cookieman15061
While certainly not scientific the lack of responses indicates little enthusiasm for this instrument in the world of Gibby forum.
Silenced Fred
I still say mandolin is better. I always thought that ukeleles sound weird and feel weird. Also, chicks dig mandolins. Need I say more?

retrosurfer1959
Yep Ive got several and several Mandolins as well. My favorite being a Godin. The Uke is a lot of fun to learn and play and tthey makes some gorgeous one especially the Koa models. I spend 3-4 weeks in Maui every year how could I not own mandolins? Versatile
There are some great ukeleles available nowadays....from my cheap one(£12.99) To crafted quality hand-made acoustic and electric ones(£300+).... Mandolins too...round hole flat-top, flat or bowl-back, to archtop F hole....some costing a fortune Electric mandolins, particularly IMX S/C pickup, amplify really well and offer a bright high range sound to any band.....
