Hi Everyone,

I have a chance to obtain an Epi Casino 2003 model from the Peerless Factory.

I was in Sam Ash the other day and Was really liking the Sound of the current P-90's.

coming out of China.

So someone is selling me their Casino in Cherry.

Does anyone have One of these Peerless models? and what if any differences are there in the P-90's used back then.

Thanks,

Newlife

If it sounds good to you and you want it.....go for it!

Otherwise, there is another one waiting around the corner.

Come on, Life is a crap shoot. We educate ourselves and do the best we can.

We got to get lucky sometimes.

I haven't played the guitar so I can't say how good it (or it's pickups) are.

Peerless guitars are generally known for their quality.

P-90s (like most pickups) are a matter of taste. Mine is all in my mouth. I wish you luck. Sounds like it could be a good guitar. As to P-90s, my favorites were built by Bob.

The general consensus has been that the Korean P90s from this era are quite good, and better than humbuckers from the same era for producing tones that get close to their Gibson counterparts. The sound from my stock '04 Peerless Casino is very pleasant: a bit dark, but not muddy at all.

I just sold my Peerles Casino and am totally regretting it after playing a new Chinese model. The pups are fine but the overall feel of the current MIC doesn't compare in the least to the Peerless. The weight, the feel, everything was vastly superior in the Peerless. It was like night and day. Buy it! [thumbup]

A parallel and not totally unconnected riposte....

Regarding Casinos, Peerless etc

Value for money wise most Casinos are excellent whether Chinese, Korean, Japanese or whatever

I recently sold a Peerless Songbird(Casino clone) which sadly I never bonded with despite excellent build and looks

I then purchased a Gibson ES 330, which is what used to be the 'badge brother' to the Casino

A guitar with direct lineage to the USA Casino back in the 60's-70's etc

Priced at around 335 level, a guitar with great build and pickup quality

With arguably more character than most current Casinos....

I will try and post pics tonight when I get home. First impressions are very good. Needs a fret cleaning and new strings but the guitar is very well set up. Low action , and the guy I purchased it from had not played it in some time but when I strummed a chord guitar was in tune. WOW!!

I will need to replace one of the knobs since a small piece had chipped off but other than a small ding by the binding the guitar is in excellent shape. Plays well without being plugged in and very light compared to my sheri and DOT. I play clean so it'll go through my fender deluxe reissue and my Roland 80xl for that nice jc120 sound.

Anyone know where I can find the knobs which fit this guitar?

They never have stopped producing guitars in Korea !

actually Epis are made in Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia and some in US

I was under the impression that they now have all of their manufacturing under one roof.

Two factories in China.

So,is there any standard to what they outsource and what they build in-house?

AFAIK there is no standard other than 'Entry level models' are made in Indonesia

IIRC Mr. Jim Epi Rosenberg told this at the 4Henry forum last year

The Emperor Regent and the Nick Valensie Riviera are actually made at Unsung, Korea

and some weeks ago there have been some Ebony SG400 at Sweetwater with factorycode 21

Elitist Casino is the only Japan made guitar

and of course the expensive US models are made or assambled in US

I may be naive but wouldn't it be cost effective to have all guitars built in their dedicated factories? why different countries?

Their own factories can't produce all the pieces they actually sell....

well time for them to open a third factory unless that would be cost prohibitive.

what i dont understand is that in their own words "They needed their own dedicated factories with its own employees"

so outsourcing their business seems counterproductive [confused][confused]
