thejtl Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 It was early in the morning and I just (sort of) learned the song, but this was our wedding song. She's been with me for 20 years.
sboiir Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Nice.....is that your new AJ you were considering returning? If so, it sure sounds worth keeping. Congrats
Buc McMaster Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Well I like it. Nice, patient rendition of an old standard...........well done, Jason. Happy Valentines Day to you and yours! Is the flicking of the image an effect? Has the look of old projector film. And, on a side note, how's the book doing?
JuanCarlosVejar Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 great voice great guitar great song ! JC
thejtl Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks, everyone. Buc, yeah, I recorded the video with my iphone propped on a speaker at my desk. It's an app called 8mm and does kind of a retro thing. Fun for quick, stylized stuff. The book is doing well. It's been really amazing to have folks read and listen and get both of those parts of my life to come together. Thanks for askin, thanks for watching. I'm really enjoying this board. A great vibe here.
thejtl Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Nice.....is that your new AJ you were considering returning? If so, it sure sounds worth keeping. Congrats Yeah, I'm keeping it. Registered it yesterday. I had to be sure, plus get over the sticker shock, and I am. Thanks.
gotomsdos Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Good job, but in my opinion, Taylor like acoustics are more suitable for such slow, lyric, pop tune, Gibsons are least suitable for such style
Stubee Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 That is a great song and I just learned it last year myself. Nice Valentine idea, well done.
nodehopper Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Good job, but in my opinion, Taylor like acoustics are more suitable for such slow, lyric, pop tune, Gibsons are least suitable for such style Did you smoke crack before posting? :-) LOL!!!
thejtl Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Did you smoke crack before posting? :-) LOL!!! I think there's something more going on with this guy than just the funny fruit rind on his head. Taylor acoustics indeed. Do I look like my Mom still buys me guitars? :P
blindboygrunt Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 i think his melons a bit tight thats a good job jtl, tricky song to sing that one , sounds simple but i know it isnt , 'my huckleberry friend' always hits me as a great lyric for some reason. i'm gonna look up 8mm for the phone , looks cool, theres a sync problem though , does that always happen? (sorry for pointing out a fault)
Lefty Guy Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 It was early in the morning and I just (sort of) learned the song, but this was our wedding song. She's been with me for 20 years. Are you a lefty?
flatbaroque Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 very nice.I enjoy playing that one as well.just the right note of world weary resignation in your vocals. Cheers
thejtl Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Are you a lefty? No, that's something the app did. Could have been because I used the front-facing camera? And yeah, I'm not sure about the sync. That's probably app-related as well, maybe tied to the individual effect. Thanks for the feedback folks. I really appreciate it.
57classic Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Great job. You made the right choice on the guitar. Nice the way you hit and held the high notes.
Tiny Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I think there's something more going on with this guy than just the funny fruit rind on his head. Taylor acoustics indeed. Do I look like my Mom still buys me guitars? :P LOL! That is some fine playing and singing though. And congrats on 20 years -- that's quite an accomplishment!
DanvillRob Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I LOVED it! Was your Valentine appropriately appreciative?
