RaSTuS
I took it read as an electric given where the post was made, but granted, that may not be the case.
LPDEN
Yes, the type of guitar would be needed to give an accurate answer. Also, if you generally like feel of he stock strings, staying with the same guage will allow you to avoid making further adjustments to the guitar such as intonation and nut slot spacing which is typically necessary when going to thicker guages... RaSTuS
and nut slot spacing Nut slot width surely, the spacing would remain the same regardless of the string gauge.
SNick
IF it's the guitar in his avatar then 10's are right.
ESPJDR17
Stocks are probably 9-42 on an electric but we are all just guessing.

RaSTuS
Stocks are probably 9-42 on an electric but we are all just guessing. Epi Electrics ship with 10 - 46 as mentioned in post #2, not guessing at all.
brad1
Stocks are probably 9-42 on an electric but we are all just guessing. Why do you think we are all guessing? Epiphone knows, and lists the string gauges. Blueman335
Regardless of what strings come with a guitar, I always put on 9's, as that's what I want. Doesn't really matter what the manufacturer put on, he's not the one playing it. The nut slots and saddles work for a variety of string gauges. bigneil
Stocks are probably 9-42 on an electric but we are all just guessing. 10-46 and I'm not guessing, all epi electric guitars with a 24.75 " scale length have regular tens as stock.

pfox14
http://www2.epiphone.com/images/StringGauges.pdf ALL electrics and thinline Semis .010 - .046 Large body archtops .011 - .052 That's why I wanted to know what guitar he had, but I guess he didn't follow up. Personally, I like 11s on semis and 12s on large archtops. 10s for any solid body guitars.

Argh, my bad, I didn't realize it was a PDF and I have the browser set to automatically download rather than view them, just went to my download directory and had 10 copies of it <sitting in the corner wearing a dunces hat>. That depends if you go too thick of a gauge over what the nut was cut for there's a high possibility of binding issues which will cause tuning issues especially while doing bends.
