Guest Farnsbarns
I had 3 horse flies in my kitchen yesterday. Has anyone been bitten by one of these? I've seen pictures of very painful looking bites but never experienced one. I caught one about to tuck in to my arm last summer. I'm not keen to find out if those bites are as painful as they look... Autumn Light&Shade
Hi Farnsbarns, my Mum was bitten several times on the stomach. She said the pain was excruciating and came over in waves, worse than a bee or wasp sting. The affected area was very red and sore. kind regards, Emma :)
SteveFord
I have and you won't forget the experience. Drive a small finishing nail into your arm and you've got the idea.

xkimo
Farns, The real horse flies can be ridiculously brutal.. However . Personally I would recommend that one would destroy all one can , these " horse flies " could also be ( M.I.D.D.S ) micro - implantation device drones / micro- intelligence device drones.. Inspect the buggers to rule out an A.I. device ! X

Karloff
yes. they will tear you up. i live 40 minutes from Assateauge Island in Maryland. They have wild horses on the Island. and with them, come wild horse flies ... great surf fishing, but the horses and the flies have no fear of man. jdgm
Pull yourself together man! Horseflies will usually only bite when trapped, e.g. between a horse's saddle etc and the skin - many a bet lost because "it took a fly" - or in your clothing. Which is why you MUST listen to this: BTW prehistoric horseflies could take your arm off. And that is absolutely true.........
Tman
A few times, in summer here in CA. Yes they are very painful. The pain lasts a while too.
