  1. Yeah but its not a real court of law, just a bunch of old windbags with each side having their own agenda (ok enough depression). Not sure what grain I have. They look really close. Can someone explain the difference to me how tight is tight and how wide is wide? Any one?
  2. So Gibson's own products react with their own guitars. Nice. So Steve there goes your theory out the window. I guess if its gonna happen its gonna happen. No matter if the strap is on for an entire gig or 5 mins. I think all my Martins have nitro finishes and I leave them in my Hercules stands whenever they are not in my hands with no barrier between the guitar and the stand like a lot of people do. I know the issue is a strap, but nitro supposedly reacts to any and everything. Never had a ill effect. You obviously did and I've heard of it happening and it comes up all the time. I guess you can call Gibson and talk to them. I'm sure they are just gonna tell you "it happens its nitro". Bummer. Plus Gibson fans are unwilling to give up their nitro finished guitars and they tout it as the best lacquer.
  3. It's belt worn. Yeah if it came out of the factory like that it would cost at least $500 more. But seriously. It happens. I guess you could have some spray some nitro over to get it back, but it is on the back and chances are you are going to put another ding in it anyway. Haven't dinged my D-41 yet but on that day I will cry like a girl.
  4. These are Schaller Grand Tune's. If I could just change the buttons to black I would, but it looks like the button and shaft are together and there is no screw on the button for removal. I'm gonna just leave em on. There nice tuners, just gold. Just watched a YT video and the guy took those tulip shaped ones on Kluson's off with a claw hammer. Nope.
  5. Exactly how tight is tight and how wide is wide. All mine look pretty tight. Are you guys measuring with a machinist rule?
  6. You're exactly right but this is a forum which is a place to share your thoughts and ideas and opinions as well as helping others with guitar related issues or we can just post specs about a 1937 J-45.
  7. One of the reasons I bought my BB due to it and found I had no need for it. Great guitar but useless feature for me. My BB was an 09
  8. Nothing wrong with a Fender Amp. Loved all the ones I've owned. Congrats.
  9. Yeah that could be but I owed a 28 and I would compare it to a Rocket Ship vs a Spitfire. There is a reason I sold my 28, 18, and 35 to get it. And none of those guitars were dogs. It's just that good. Made some cash too.
  10. There are not enough signature guitars out there, so one more can't hurt. I thought he played G&L now
  11. I still hate gold. Had gold on my BB and it was everywhere, pup covers, tuners, switch, and the jacks. I know it is supposed to look expensive, but when it tarnished it looks like garbage.
  12. Your right there are tons of great players out there and LB is one of them. I was in the second row, and It was insane seeing it live.
  13. I play my guitars and don't analyze every nuance of them to the n'th degree. I like it, it sounds good, I buy it. It's that simple.
  14. Yeah its on my D-41. I think I will just keep it stock. I'll cry like a baby if wood chips come off the headstock.
  15. I had one on my BB King and rarely if ever did it come off the 0 position, which is bypass mode. It is cool if your gonna use it, but I hardly ever did. After about 5 mins it went back to bypass. You say you want to add one. I thought 355's came with one since it is supposed to be a super pimped out 335, or did you miss type 355 and meant 335? Then since its a 355, and I sure it has no control cavity cover, you have to drill a hole and do all the wiring though the F holes. Enjoy.
  16. Try all and see what you like. I used to use Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-46 when I had electrics. If you know who Beato is, there is a video on YT that says you are using the wrong gauge, so there's that.
  17. I want to change tuners on my guitar. They are gold and I am not a fan of gold. I've changed and installed tuners before, but they have always been the kind where the grommet thread into the tuning machine. The set on are Schaller Grand Tune, and have the pressed in grommet. I am sure I can just put a wooden dowel in the other side and tap it, but I do not want any wood from the head stock to chip off. So is it that easy. I went to start last night and Schaller are sneaky and the grommet is hex on top not round so, I thought they were screw in until the tuner just came out and the grommet stayed in place. I've installed the ones with the press in grommet after I have removed the screw in grommet tuners. I guess this should be the repair section. Mods can move it to there if need be.
  18. Mick was a great coc sniffer, as a drummer, I guess the drummers could weigh in and let us know. He does the job. Saw Lindsey a few years back solo. After the show I wanted to throw all my guitars away. He can do that with nothing but fingers and I am a hack.
  19. So you are telling me you now think people are making fakes of guitars that cost $599. How much is a fake Epi? $99?
  20. Its on the back, it happens. People still wear belt buckles? Is it 1974?
  21. I loath Rumors, but Songbird is one of my favorite FM songs.
  22. That is what it is, I have bore oil. Could not remember it to save my life.
  23. Their lame now anyway. I would rather have bamboo shoved under my finger nails than have to listen to Rumors or any album after that. Lindsey was the best musician in that group and they booted him cause that t-wat wanted him out. F her and them. She would be nothing if Lindsey didn't say you take me you need to take her too.
  24. I'm here all week. When you go to 1st page of the acoustic posts right now, 5 of the threads are about J-45's.
  25. Enough that it was noticeable. I would put it on let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it off. I used a microfiber cloth to wipe it in and then off. The gunk was up against the frets. Threw that stuff away.
