  1. I've never done it... I've never had that issue to deal with....I said it SHOULD be able to be polished out... much like you would with a defect in a car's paint, (I have done that). I have the 2-stage kind.... you use the 'red' one first, then the 'blue' one to get the luster back. I've used it to polish out surface scratches...never had a flaw in the lacquer.
  2. If it's a flaw in the lacquer, it should be able to be polished out.... I have some 2-stage guitar polish..... a polish.... a real fine polish that you apply with a micro-fiber cloth.
  3. And the expert weighs in! Banners only made between 1942 and 1945? (War years, right?)
  4. I'm sure that's not a dread....so not a J-45. But since it's a 'Banner', I'm sure John Thomas would have info on it. https://www.amazon.com/Kalamazoo-Gals-Extraordinary-Gibsons-Guitars/dp/0983082782/ref=asc_df_0983082782/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312030486371&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5388545734979166133&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031999&hvtargid=pla-465917726111&psc=1
  5. I built heavy duty vehicles for 53 years. We established a place where we determined the vehicle was a 'complete vehicle'..and THAT'S the date we used for the VIN and data plate. We considered the vehicle, (trucks & buses) when it rolled of the assembly line to be a complete vehicle...and THAT's the date we used....NOT the date the vehicle was started, or the day it got painted, or the day it was shipped from the factory. After the vehicle came off line it still had to go through 'final'; road test; dynamometer; testing, touch-up paint, etc.
  6. My first guitar performance was at a Hoonenanny.... my friend sang and played....but I forget what song we did.
  7. I've always REALLY liked Joan Baez..... saw her once when she opened for The Stones.
  8. Well... I have no room for another guitar, (I have 11, plus the mandolin, violin, keyboard 6 amps and 2 pianos)....Plus...I'd buy an old Bozeman Hummingbird and an old slope-shoulder J-45 before I'd buy a new 12 string...not to mention that I already have the best playing and sounding 'Bird 12-String I've ever had in my hands.....so just can't justify it...BUT.... it is STILL tempting!
  9. Damn! That's tempting... $3K for a brand-new J-45/12..... (and a short drive away!).
  10. Nalyd, Not sure you can get better info and opinions that what you were given here..... whatever you decide, (I personally like the 2nd one), keep us posted. I'd LOVE to have a J-200.... it's just too big of a guitar for my body.
  11. Nothing wrong with putting someone else's words/poems to music, (as long as you give credit).
  12. I have five dreads and my old Jubilee....NONE of them have a strap button on the heel of the neck....other than the one on the side in the middle of the bass bout, then have no button at all. I don't use a strap much these days, (all my dreads have Couch Straps) but I use a "Strap Foot", (or shoe....so shoe string)
  13. South of the border was written by Michael Carr and Jimmy Kennedy for the Gene Autry movie of the same name. Jose Cuervo was written by Cindy Jordan, but made famous by Shelly West.
  14. Here are two songs I recently video'd in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, (depending on your level of recognition of the Holiday):
  15. Now, if you consider songwriters....you'd have to put Paul Simon in the top tier!
  16. So you think any of those awards keep her warm at night? Think she can share secret and tender moments with them? Have you ever read the poem "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson? I kinda feel sorry for her... she has zero ability to establish a lasting relationship with anyone.
  17. Of those girls you named, I only lean towards Tina.... the others are 'so-so'. Amy COULD have been great....just didn't have time..... Lady Gaga is a great artist...I just can't stand her....and Taylor seems like a whiny *****.
  18. The fakes are getting go 'good' it's scary!
  19. You might be right...I'm no expert.....I've not seen a Hummingbird with a scallop at the end of the fretboard.... on the Doves and J-200's...but I've never noticed them on a 'Bird.
  20. A couple of songs I recorded this morning.
  21. Pickguard looks cheap...no wings on the hummingbird fer cryin' out loud! Fret markers have no 'luster' like real MOP. I'm sure there are MUCH better experts in here than me. I gave my son a Epiphone Hummingbird for Christmas one year.... other than the headstock, this one looks similar.
