  1. I like the guitar. To me, I'd think it is a legit Gibson with work done to it. Play it and enjoy it!
  2. Kid, my best friend (now passed) cut a record and was playing it for me several years ago. The guitar sounded very much like a tele, (sounded like a single-pole bridge pick-up..... lots of treble). I asked him if it was a tele....he said , no...it was a 335! (guess I have ZERO ear!).
  3. For me, the cost of a Gibson is well worth it, (might be why I own 6 of them).....for many, probably not. My son never really picked up the guitar...so the cost was about right.
  4. My bride loves me to play guitar...not all that happy about how many I have. I've told this story here before.... when we met (1976) I only had an old Gibson Jubilee...and I told her my 'dream guitar' was a Hummingbird. I used to play one we had in a music store I worked in as a kid. So, after we were married, we didn't have a pot to pee in...but she somehow bought me a Gibson Dove. She remembered I told her I wanted a Gibson "bird" guitar of some sort, so she got me a Dove, instead of a Hummingbird. It's a very special guitar to me, since she sacrificed so much to buy it for me.
  5. I bought my son an Epi Dove some years ago for Christmas. It's actually a good guitar. Brand-New it cost me $350 or so..... so is a Gibson worth 10X as much? Depends on your point of view, ears and fingers.
  6. I like it.....a great arrangement and well played!
  7. I decided over a year ago to video my entire repertoire. I had about 200 songs in my chart book...but when I played, I seemed to play the same 20 or so songs....over and over. I wanted my grandsons to hear the entire repertoire (when they get older), so I started at "A" and when through "Y" (I have no "Z" songs). I finished that about 8-9 months ago. Then, I found at OLD chart book....it had dozens of songs I quit doing, or never really put an arrangement together. So, for the last 4-5 months, I've been recording every song in the old chart book. I don't know how many there are in the book, (since many of them got carried over into my current chart book). I'm working on "Fire On The Mountain" by Marshall Tucker Band. When I get it done, (I'll probably record it today) I'll start on the next song, "Thirty-Nine And Holding" by The Killer...I don't look farther ahead in the book than the next song....I want to be surprised. I have 370 videos up on YouTube right now....I'd guess I have at least 30 more songs to do.... not counting songs I hear and want to record. It's a race against the arthritis in my hands.
  8. There are just so many..... but one of my favorites:
  9. I was actually thinking of putting an arrangement of The Beatles' tune....but it's tough with only myself and an acoustic guitar!
  10. Happy Birthday, ol' buddy! Maybe this'll cheer you up!
  11. I'll celebrate my 1 year retirement in July....and my 72nd birthday in August.
  12. I was never a fan of Neil, (even though we worked together a few times), and I would never have put Dylan in my 'favorites'....but you have to admit Dylan might be the best songwriter of our generation, (followed closely by Townes and John Prine....maybe Paul Simon too).
  13. HAHA! Well... I feel pretty good most of the time...unless I try to do something stupid....like run....
  14. Not easy.... just listen or watch John Entwistle.
  15. Something I recorded a couple of days ago. Please don't compare my singing to Brenda Lee... she was a tremendous talent. I like to do songs not heard often.
  16. Well....I wish I could make it sing like Jinder does..... he's a wizard, I think!
  17. I really miss being able to play with others.... hopefully we'll get back to that soon!
  18. Well.... thought I'd show photos of my two basses. The Jazz Bass I got in 1965, I think. The P-Bass I got from a guy who evicted some guys from a house he had and they left it under the bed.... think I got it early 80's.
  19. Played a Fender Jazz Bass when I was playing out. I currently (and for the last 30 years) have a Fender P-Bass.
  20. I'm starting on my second $Million....I gave up on my first!).
  21. I wrote a song last June about the lock-down. The music is Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released"
  22. Dang! a LOT of dental problems! Guess we're all in the same boat!
