The second LP pic I think is a fake. I think you're right. I'd guess the top one is Norlin era, it looks like the top is made out of random hunks of wood.

It probably came out after he made his purchase. Maybe he can go to Home Depot and pick up a roller and some paint and do a clone on the cheap.
