  1. I can say that the cryo treatment to tubes does make them sound better. Years ago I did an experiment with the fellow whose business was dipping the tubes. I thought he was full of crap but nope. This was for stereo gear, I don't know if it would make a difference for guitar amps.
  2. Yeah but he can keep that cap.
  3. The Special looks okay, the Standard took a beating. I'd get the black one.
  4. If The Who goes on tour in support of their new album it could always be gifted to Pete Townsend.
  5. Pretty guitars and whenever they feel like there's enough demand for them, I suppose.
  6. If UPS gives you any grief about the box, here's what happens to guitars with that kind of damage: The guitar falls from a conveyor belt and does a belly flop, the shock from the impact causes the neck to crack at the weakest point. The only thing holding that guitar together is the string tension, if you take the strings off that crack will propagate. The box does not have to show any damage as a belly flop will do it.
  7. Mine are all still growing with the Savannah being around 30" and the Dumeril's being around 4 foot. Fully grown they'll be able to wolf down a large rat. Burp!
  8. I currently have 4 monitor lizards: one Savannah and three Dumeril's. What they do best is eat.
  9. No, my last one was a Grey Persian and he was just great but there's too much traffic around here. It's heartbreaking when they get run over. Instead, I keep guard reptiles. People seem to find giant snakes and monitor lizards off putting for some unknown reason.
  10. That's from the Bad Olde Days when the factory only had one light bulb for them to huddle around. Shame, Henry J, for shame!
  11. I have a bunch of cheapie suede-backed straps from Guitar Center and one fancy schmancy one for the Martin (brand unknown but also from Guitar Center). I play it safe and either store guitars with the straps off or resting on top of that case shroud they used to use. I suppose that's what the shroud was for although it always makes me think of old Dracula movies.
  12. I would be on the horn to Gibson if one of their straps damaged the finish on my guitar. That is total bullsh*t.
  13. Calling RCT, RCT your assistance is required in the Gibson USA section...
  14. Married, first wife passed away after 15 years of marriage, I think this one is year 15, about time for a newer model, it seems.
  15. I understand that playing one is truly delightful, it even says so in the ad: Playing the USA Texan is truly delightful
  16. Looking at the video they mention the neck being sunk further into the body. After spending forever getting used to the length of a Firebird I don't think one of those Casinos would work for me, it would feel as cramped as a Les Paul.
  17. I would think so, it would be stupid of Gibson to sell a strap that would burn the finish. Even so, it would hurt to ask them.
  18. I wonder if they get bonus points every time they use the word "iconic"? Good for Epiphone for finally coming back home.
  19. I'm pretty sure that tx-ogre is correct. I remember my old Faded Cherry Flying V had stupidly hot pick ups in it. It also had a screw rattling around inside the control cavity somewhere right from the factory...

Oddly enough, I like the witch hat knobs on it the best, they really make the guitar. It brings back the era when the brown 335s with the trapeze tail pieces were out on the sales floor.
  21. At the very least Eno did synth and sound loops, I'm not so sure about songwriting credits. Here's some late Roxy for you:
  22. This was one I could have done without, they were just hilarious.
  23. Listen to them in order. The only one that I never cared for was Manifesto, it seemed like a throw away album while they were absorbed in solo projects but there are other people who really like that one.
  24. A Firebird VII with improved pick ups would have been a welcome addition. Only the neck pick sounds any good on that model which is bizarre. Why bother having 3 pick ups?
