  1. I think someone at GC could of put a 9 instead of a 6. I had a righty very much like your photo. . I had a very early one as well with the decal logo. Nice bass.
  2. Raised white plastic logo. Staple pickups. Alot were blade pickups. Looks mid 60s.
  3. Ya. I asked my Gibson dealer to get me a wide white TRC for my CS 94 SJ200 . I would even provide the serial number. My dealer contacted Gibson. And it was a flat NO. Kind of pissed me off. Spend thousands on Gibson acoustics And get rejected on a TRC.
  4. Its not a bad thing. It serves the purpose. And it looks like it belongs on it. Gibson though does not sell Pickguards, trussrod covers. So getting an original would be tough. Not sure why.
  5. Looks similar to a Gibson Sparrow guard. But I think its a aftermarket guard. The footprint is off and the art work does not go together on the guard. kind of looks like pigeons.
  6. It looks good. Did you check to see if it Laminate or a solid top?
  7. No punch line. Its a Natural top stamped J50e
  8. I have a J50e. From 56. Its a cool guitar.
  9. Reverb is a good way to find out as well.
  10. The Japan market is huge. Lots of money flows through there. And they love American made Guitars.
  11. Im not sure whats holding you back from this Hummingbird. Where do you find one with a price like this elsewhere? Hummingbirds were never a loud guitar. They have a soft tone. But if set up properly can have everything you require in a guitar. as for Bracing. Leave it. It was designed that way.
  12. Yamaha had something like a j160 style. Ibanez had one except the pickup was in the end of the fingerboard. Mansfield, Mann, yamaki as well . .
  13. Well. If your Gibson is a Nice one. Send it to a good luthier. With the luthier making it look nice. And it could be dressed to look clean.
  14. That looks cool. Those two together do look really Nice
  15. If Im not mistakin. TV series Gibsons were labeled as such. You have a serial number. Check with customer service for Identification
  16. I agree with Nick. Accidents happen. But its in a good spot for more damage if not repaired.
  17. Ive seen that brand There were a few different styles. The brand on the back of the headstock. , not for resale prototype brand. And the print. Maybe theres more. Proto A , proto B on the paper tag in some cases.
  18. Ya. I meant by making those better. Just from the previous 20 years. I dont think Gibson had any original guitars to go by. I met Mr Burnette at the King of Prussia show in the early 90s. Theres a guy that had some cool guitars. Put on a big show too.
  19. I have owned a few where wood floor clear was used. It was very yellow on the guitars. See every brush stroke. Really hard to remove.
