  1. Ya. Not what they sold for new. The 90s Dove are Nice. But in the same token used D35s are not cheap either. a used dove up here 24 cdn ish. Maybe more. New Doves up here are 5000ish cdn , not a fan at that amount. a D35 I would guess no different. I think New there in the 35 to 4 bracket
  2. D35 is a better guitar. If you were to find a 90s or newer Dove. I could be swayed As there values should be equal. A Norlin Dove is not something I myself would even consider unless it was super cheap.
  3. True enough. It could be good opportunity for small builders to step in and show there wares and talent of building.
  4. I believe covid and construction could be the reason for the slow down.
  5. Alot of model numbers were hand written. Serial numbers should of been stamped. Gibson years like 1905 ,10 the serials were hand written. But. On the neck block a factory order number was stamped on these, Yours might have that as well.
  6. Up here. Theres not much . There trickling in little at a time from Dec 2020 orders.
  7. Cool guitar. And thats one I did not know that was a banner.
  8. Played a J45 12 string today. Actually quite comfortable to play. Even balanced weight. Not headstock heavy , the one I played could use a bit better nut adjustment but overall not bad. 4100cdn though out the door.
  9. Take it to a luthier. We have read something similar in the past few days. these necks move , sometimes in a direction not planned.
  10. Richlite is a epoxy resin wannabe ebony. which ebony is a hard wood . rosewood is a softer wood. Your standard should be rosewood. Which is the most commonly used on 45s
  11. Truss rods are not to be turned 360’. There like a 1/8 of a turn ,thats it. Any tighter you will tighten that neck up so much it will split the neck. Or bust the trussrod. I think these have a double rod inside , at least they did for a time You sure you want to attempt a adjustment? Or give it to a luthier to get into working order?
  12. Well on the bright side. The J29 is a decent guitar. I think there priced well to for a slope shoulder Gibson.
  13. My spelling sucks. But maybe those legs will sell her guitars quicker. 🙂
  14. Beat part of the video is the Mustang Fastback.
  15. It looks like it was rubbed up against something to create a worm track.. even prior to refinish. Or a hair during refinish. And it did not final polish as planned.
  16. Great comparison via the OPs post.
  17. That looks like a Nice one. And a Banner LG2 at that. 👍
  18. These guitars are set up to specs of neck angle and bridge height. Then strung and setup and documented on the final sheet.
  19. You talking the inspection sheet prior to shipping? If it is. Thats the way its setup. After you buy the guitar. The dealer usually sets it up to your preference. .
  20. As Dave says. I own a 56 J50e.mine is a solid top. Same guitar. Just a different stamping. Now with the 160e. Some of those were laminated tops. If not all. there a decent guitar.
  21. If Im not mistakin. Gibson bought Dobro in the 90s. I just seen the post. Its not a vintage piece. So viewing here by folks may not be to helpful for you. Its a single cone model. Alot like a style 0 model. Gibson customer service might know more.
  22. I gave it back to Martin after I found out the Martin Warranty repair krazy glued all the areas and refinished the whole body. Apparently Martin did not use enough Hyde glue. My guess trying to keep it clean on the inside. Or not liquid (hot)enough to seep in to the wood properly. ( Ive read how sloppy hyde glue is on the insides , sometimes being sloppy is a good thing knowing theres product holding a guitar together) The 28 Im sure slipped through the cracks on final inspection. I own a few prewar Original Martins , I dont think anyone was concerned about over usage at that time . As brittle as they are from years gone by , there holding together great . I bought a 00042 Madi authentic a year ago. Beautiful tight sounding guitar. And I am watching that one daily to see if it does the same thing. My room for these is at 45% humidity. 65 to 70f temp. Nothing against out side walls or concrete floors.
