  1. As a player in several cover bands over the years, I have experienced the loss of gigs at several of our venues because of the club owners reluctance to deal with ASCAP and/or BMI. They simply stopped booking live music.
  2. Yeah. I'm a machinist. We would call 3/64 wide open tolerance. We use dial calipers and micrometers to measure parts to within .0005
  3. I don't think I've ever measured my action. I actually don't like super low action. I don't want it high either. Like someone else said, too low and it seems to choke the notes. But I will say that I found it pretty interesting when the OP brought up the "geometry" and even provided a visual to demonstrate how the radius can impede the string as it bends. I had never considered that before.
  4. The video was unavailable for me too, but I signed on with a VPN and was able to watch. Good stuff
  5. My modest Gibson collection
  6. I think Jim Carey was the perfect choice to play Ace Ventura.
  7. I like it. Not gonna buy it, but I like it. Fun fact: Cause We've Ended As Lovers was written by Stevie Wonder
  8. I don't have anything useful to add. I just enjoyed browsing the thread and learning some stuff. Congratz on a cool guitar. Like slimt said, I'd be interested in knowing the weight.
  9. Congratz on retirement and the Gold Top. Enjoy both. 😎
  10. When I got my latest PRS guitar, I made a profile on their Forums. I don't go on there too much. Most of the people there seem very cultishly devoted to everything PRS. Other than guitar, I go on a few Discord Servers. Mythvision and a small channel called Progressive Matters. If I talked about either one of them any further, I would get the thread locked. 😃
  11. Have a good trip to Canada, AY.
  12. Hey KS. I somehow missed this when you originally posted. Glad you came out OK, even if you're not feeling 100%. Hope you're feeling better soon.
  13. Keep your spirits up. We're pulling for you to be pickin soon.
  14. Yeah. The tires. That's a story. It is a 2000 Suburban that was just given to him by his neighbor Phil. It's been sitting since the Covid lockdown. Phil just signed over the title. It has Historic tags. Steve did take it to to get tune-up and oil change and tire rotation. The treads were still good, but the guy suggested Steve get new ones as these were 10 years old. Steve didn't take the advice. So what that picture shows is after the tread came off. We rode slowly and tried to get past a guard rail, but then the whole tire blew. We rode on the rim for about 100 yards until we cleared the guard rail or we would have been even closer to the road.
  15. Our Delfest Campsite. Jenga is always a hit.
  16. Here is is Memorial Day, and another annual Delfest has come and gone. This has been a tradition for the last 6 or 7 years. A four day Bluegrass Festival in the mountains of Western Maryland. As usual, we had a great time camping, and partying and jamming and meeting people and even saw a few good bands in there somewhere.. 😎 On the way there we blew two tires on Steve's Suburban. He should have changed tires before the trip, Even on a spare, we barely made it to a Walmart for four new tires. But it turned out to be only a slight diversion and we got there OK. It's an uncomfortable feeling changing a tire on side of Rt 70 as cars go by at 80 MPH a few feet away. A State Police eventually parked behind us with his lights on, and that made it much better. The week before, my wife and I took a well needed short vacation to The Bahamas. It was an all-inclusive stay at Sandals Resort. We enjoyed a beautiful beach, did some sailing and ate/drank very well. It was a short, but great trip. Coming home, we touched down at BWI 6:45PM and by 8, I was at Pit Stop Pub playing a gig with my buddy Steve.
  17. And she was totally wrong too
  18. I hope I get to that situation some day. Congratz on good choices.
  19. Thanks for the update. Keep staying positive. P.S. keep staying.....is that redundant?
  20. Got in late last night from a double header. Played as a trio with my buddies Steve and Quinny at a nice dock bar in Kent Island. Great crowd and show. Watched the Os win as we played. 😎 We played til 7 and packed up and were playing The Rams Head with a full band by 8. For Rams Head, we added a drummer, bass player and dude named Elvin on guitar. No rehearsals at all for us. Elvin arrived halfway though the first set with a bad *** Dr Z amp and his modded Tele. He plugged in and we went right into Folsom Prison Blues, but he forgot we were all tuned down a half step. 😦We quickly realized something was wrong, so the rest of us just played that one in F. He tuned down after that and we continued to rip it up all night, to a very small crowd. That part was a shame. I can't overstate how good this guy Elvin is. He recently played the Lincoln Center in NY with The King Of Latin Soul , Joe Bataan. Then he comes down to play an empty show with a hack like me. But we had a great time playing. Mainly jammed and improvised all night. It's amazing to play with these great musicians, who are above my level.
