  1. Get the hell out of my class. Algebra teacher. I later excelled in math. Just needed a good teacher.
  2. Looks to be a 58-59 Les Paul Junior, but the pickup hole is curious. These had P90s and the hole is too large for that. Head stock looks wrong where it blends into the neck. The bevel on the upper part of the body looks wrong. No serial number evident. Weird.
  3. This was our 3rd total eclipse experience. The first was in 1998 in the Caribbean on a cruise ship, the second was on a golf course south of Carbondale, and this one in Ina, IL at the Love's Truck Stop. We drove down from Wisconsin early Monday and bugged out almost immediately after totality ended and avoided the traffic mess. It was the Best One , so far. Our pictures did not turn out but the experience was incredible.
  4. Note to E minor 7, I don't have an HD28, but I have played them. As noted, I have a D45V. I think any guitar will sound muddy with old strings.
  5. You could try a Martin HD28. They really sing, at least to me. I have a 2014 D45V that really sings.
  6. I would return that case. It looks way heavy, bulky, and the lack of support is unacceptable. Why not get a case from Gibson? They are readily available from many shops on line.
  7. I'd rather buy a bunch of guitars I like for a lot less money.
  8. I think my Les Paul Access Bengal Burst is a lot prettier than the new one. The older one looks great.
  9. I was at one of our electrical substations safeguarding painters and listening to the radio when the first report of a "small" plane hitting the World Trade Center came in. Then it it quickly escalated into the tragedy we know today. Didn't see any televised reports until that evening when I got home from work. I will NEVER FORGET.
  10. If you really are looking at a bold, full body sound, you need an HD 28. These are amazing. When getting a new guitar, if it doesn't WOW you, move on. I have two Martins. One is a D12-28 in the Sunburst color that I bought in 2011 and a D45V I bought in 2019. Both WOW'd me. If a guitar doesn't sing to you, it's not for you. See if you can trade it back for the right one.
  11. Beautiful! Haven't been able to watch them in Wisconsin due to cloud coverage. We're at Solar Max, so there should be more opportunities.
  12. Really enjoyed the video. I don't own a Gibson Acoustic, but someday I might. Would really like to tour the factory as well as Nashville and Martin in PA.
  13. I keep all my guitars in a Display case and right around 70 deg. F and 50% RH. They stay safe and in tune. It's not a cheap option but all my guitars stay in tune and no damage from weather. A desiccant pack(s) helps reduce the humidity in the summer and a small dish of water helps increase it. Our home is kept around 71 degrees F. year around and humidity is also kept between 45 and 52 with AC and April Air humidifier. I can check on conditions daily with ease and catch any problems quickly.
  14. I guess they are around 18 bucks now. Had mine for many years. Only use them occasionally cuz my guitars are generally in my display case when not in use.
  15. I have about 5 "On Stage" stands. They have a threaded lock screw to hold the extension up. Never had one fail yet. Very sturdy and under 10 bucks.
  16. Anyone ever hear of Gibson taking a right handed SG Jr. body and turning it upside down to create a left handed guitar rather than making a left handed body? This would put the long horn and bevel on the bottom. I know that Gibson has used right hand necks on left hand guitars and put dots on both sides, but not using right hand bodies for lefty's. Click on the link then the little picture icon to see this guitar. I think it is a fake and kit .
  17. I need to do an update. Tried a while back, but I think my cord was only a charge cord and didn't work. I recently got, hopefully, the correct cord. Just haven't got to doing it yet. I've been having a lot of fun with my Mustang Micro and not disturbing the household. LOL
  18. Serial number should be preceded by "CS" of it is a custom shop guitar.
  19. You can also custom order yours to your specifications. Those are M2M or Made to Measure. I had a Les Paul Axcess Bengal Burst built M2M with specific tuners and a cherry back and neck like the original one shown on Gibson's website before they changed the back and neck to black. First time ordering a guitar site unseen or played. Came out PERFECT.
  20. IIRC the SG Jr. sold for $165.00 back in 1963 when my folks bought it for me and the SG with the sideways vibrola sold for $275.00. Both were Cherry and hung in the window of the music shop until I got the Jr. Hard times back in the late 70s forced me to give it up. Now I understand it could be worth up to 5k and the SG upwards of 20K. Oh Well. Better times are here and I have quite a nice family and a great collection of guitars. None have a vibrola.
  21. I drooled over the original 61 SG (cherry) when it hung in the window of the guitar shop where I took lessons. It was next to the SG Jr. that I was fortunate to have my parents buy for me. Over the years I thought about buying one and just never quite got there. When the recent versions began to be produces, I thought about either the Gibson USA version or the Custom Shop version. The poorly performing vibrato just haunted me to the point I couldn't pull the trigger. I wound up getting a CS Les Paul Axcess Bengal Burst. I'm getting good at twanging the strings on the neck. Can't do the lower twang, but at least the guitar stays in tune. Good Luck. It is a BEAUTIFUL guitar.
