  1. Awesome awesome band Pip. and on the subject of perfection in rock vocalists (which Paul Rodgers certainly was)...
  2. I have an old one ('61). I don't really make any melodies on it. Probably should move it on (My photos seem to want to rotate to right for some reason...)
  3. It had already jumped the shark, but unfortunately the 'upgrade' from the blue site to the current white site where you could no longer see if you were in a conversation (often with several people!) really snuffed out most of whatever life was left. A new thread had to be good to stay on page one for a day back around 2014-15, but now stuff hangs around in the absence of anything else for maybe a week. So be it - all good things come to an end eventually...and it was good, even the Epi lounge was quite lively at one time - I personally can say I learned a lot back then and enjoyed the discussions.
  4. Very Nice Dub! 30+ years and the affair is still going strong here!
  5. Good for you Rabs - always nice to see people following their heart and doing work they enjoy and that provides enjoyment for others!
  6. I had 2 flights planned for today but I cancelled due to some Covid impacts - for once I'll say "thankyou Covid. (now p!ss off!)"
  7. or get a Chinasaw version for yer Chibsons.

    Truth

I am forever checking for signs that I might be becoming a hypochondriac.
  9. whilst I contest that our home made bourbon is the best, my son left me some Double Oak Beam - tasty but potent!
  10. I'm looking at it and trying to find something I like about it. đź•’ đź•“ đź•” đź•— ...still trying.
  11. Mate, I don't know the specific models, but if its to demo your Rabswood creations then I'd be going for a Fender every time - people will want to hear how the guitar projects what they are playing to the amp and if it plays truly, not how cool a driven amp sounds... so the beautiful cleans with a bit of spring reverb sounds would be just the ticket, no? Take a tube screamer or whatever along if no appropriate drive channel, and they want to teat that, but I wouldn't go Marshall - who would want to hear what their prospective purchase sounds like through a little Marshall with that one good sounding setting you've got to search for and try and dial in? A big Marshall would be different, but I'd go Fender every time for what you said its for....but its your business not mine of course.
  12. great to here some of you guys are getting back into it! Just took in a set of a local originals band on a Sunday afternoon here - excellent sound. About time my band lined up another gig - we'll have a chat at rehearsals next week and hopefully cook something up with a couple of other local acts.
  13. what's purchase cost and ensuing health and dental bill for consuming the 2000 cans?
  14. Demo shop? - never heard of it. Are they guitars you play Stairway to Heaven on?
  15. Yep - socialism for the banks coupled with austerity for the masses - heck of a system if you happen to be on the right side of the line.
  16. well, you Americans must be much smarter than many Australians who seem to look at home equity as exactly like cash in the bank - "hey Darlene, the housing market just went up again and I always wanted that (Dodge Ram/Harley/swimming pool/kitchen/Les Paul ...). Wow, we must be such smart investors…lets refinance!!" M-E, very true - the guitar is available to almost anyone at a decent price for performance, and you can pay more for somewhat better quality if you wish. OP's question could be asked of many well made status products - "how does Rolex stay in business when I can buy a $10 watch at a gas station or just use my phone to tell the time?"
  17. by my math, 1 in 11 adults in the USA are millionaires. China adds another 5 million millionaires and Japan another three million. So that's more than 25 million millionaires in just 3 countries. (heck, even us in little ol' OZ have over well over a million of 'em!) Can a millionaire afford a Gibson or two?...yep.
  18. If you bought them both you could always refer to them as your Les Paul Olive D'Rabs'
  19. Just had our first rehearsal since February this past weekend. We have played 2 gigs since we last rehearsed but even the most recent was more than 2 months ago. I proposed that I play much less guitar on our songs - basically just do the intro, under the solo and last chorus/outro if needed. That allows me to focus on vocals and makes it a lot cleaner with just one rhythm through most songs. It worked really well - a bit hard to get used to but really rockin' second time through! We will start building some new songs soon and if gigs come along we will be ready quickly in any case.
  20. Hey, you are right! - a very close match indeed!
  21. Oh Go to 28.45 for more info on all this. ...I've seen them live and yep they are all on and pretty dammned loud. FOH be damned, its about pushin' air and bleedin' ears!!
  22. Well gents, I'd have to say its gotta be a Chibby at that price in Australia. I'm sure the experts here will be able to call out the tell tale signs, and the ways in which their butts could tell instantly, but I'd have to say that it looks like they are getting better at the builds... but then a again I'd hate for a kid to buy one, get frustrated in it and be put off sitting down for life.
