  1. Same with singing, you don’t hear yourself how you really sound.. The Audience does.. Although with Headphones or In Ear Monitors you can… Guitar too..
  2. My Luthier keeps my Guitars at least a couple days after the Set up is complete.. Why? Because everything moves… Similar to new Strings… He checks, adjusts 2nd day & checks & readjusts again 3rd day.. His work is about as perfect as it gets… Plus, he builds Custom Shop quality Guitars.. He builds for guys like Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Steven Tyler etc.… Beautiful Work..
  3. If you really want that Hummingbird, save more money… You’ll never be happy with something less.. You’ll just settle…
  4. Return & Replace it until it’s right… You’re paying perfect money & expect a perfect Guitar!
  5. By the way this is one of the handiest tools I’ve found for working on my Guitars…
  6. Enjoy… The waiting is the hardest part…
  7. I used to have a Studio just like that Guitar! You’ll love it! Congrats!
  8. I sure regret selling my 1959 Gibson ES345 Stereo with PAF’s.. I’ve never heard another Guitar that sounded as good or looked as beautiful.. I was young naive & had no idea what I had acquired for $100.00…. I bought it from a guy back in the 80’s & kept it a few years.. I thought it was an old Guitar & new ones would sound even better.. Why didn’t somebody slap me upside my head? Gibson makes so many changes to their models some good, some not so good.. There are all kinds of Pickups claiming to be the real but aren’t. Some are pretty good. Build quality changed year to year.. Build quality is pretty good now.. They are beautiful Guitars with the right Pickups.. IMO the MHS come real close… But, it’s subjective at best.. I’m happy with the ES335 I bought in 2013… But, if I were looking I’d be going for a 355 with MHS Pickups & Bigsby..
  9. I own 3 Casinos. 2 with Gibson USA 090’s & Swtchcraft components. One MIC Casino with Bigsby & Asian P90’s. P90’s are extremely versatile & in a class by themselves.. My favorite Pickup… That said, there is a definite difference in the Sound.. Just about any pickup can sound good at low volume.. The truth is when you crank it up! The Asian P90’s sound good at low volume but get harsh when played at higher levels.. The Gibson USA’s do all the things P90’s are supposed to do but sound very pleasant at all levels… I’m not convinced that whether it’s 3 ply or 5 that there’s a noticeable difference in Sound.. Although, you can hear the difference between the USA & Asian P90’s…. That said, I’m sure to many the Asian Pups are good enough…
  10. (This is just about standard sized Casinos) There have been all kinds of Casino models. MIC, MIK, MIJ & Made in the USA... All kinds of Pickups & all the other components.. Most of the MIC & MIK have all Asian Pickups & components.. IMO the Asian P90’s sound harsh at higher volume. A few models like the, IBJL, 60th Anniv 1961 & Gary Clark Jr Series had Gibson USA P90’s & Swtchcraft components.. Excellent Guitars & medium price range.. Then there were MIJ Series.. Elite, Elitist & 65 RI models.. All are Top of the line & built at the Terada factory.. Pricey but worth it. Now there is the newly released USA Casino… Many can’t hear the difference or the Asian Pickups are good enough. But, If you want your MIC Casino to sound like the Casinos with Gibson USA P90’s you need to upgrade to comparable P90 Pickups. Like Fralin, Lollar, Duncan & Tho Bak…
  11. The Gold plating on Gibsons is less than paper thin… No abrasive should be used on those Parts.. There should be a Warning label! if you used a Gibson Cleaner on a Gibson Guitar & have that result you should call Gibson Customer Service on the Phone… No emails.. Tell them you’re not happy with their Cleaning product ruining the pickups & you want to send the Guitar back to the Factory for them to Refinish or replace the Pickups..
  12. Tabs, I watched a couple You Tubes of that DSL-1 Marshall.. Great little Tube Amp!!!! Well bought..
  13. I called Fralin a while back & Lindy happened to answer the phone.. What a cool Guy he was.. I got an education! In addition to sound quality there are many differences between Asian Pickups & USA Pickups.. Among other things, Asian are Metric while USA’s are standard. They will wind new Pickups & install them in your Covers.. That is probably a good way to go if you want to upgrade…
  14. That’s why I’d go with Makers like Fralin, Lollar or Duncan…. Or if I wanted to spend the money Thro-Bak’s which are arguably the best.. The Neck Pickup & the Bridge Pickups are sized different. Here’s a link to Fralin website.. They will be my choice for my MIC Casino… I just discovered they have Chrome Dogears back in Stock! https://www.fralinpickups.com/product/p90/
  15. I avoid metal cleaners… For Pickups Covers & hard places to reach I use a Q Tip with a small dab of Mothers Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax non-abrasive formula (Step3). The same as I use to Polish my Guitars & Cars… Then Polish with a Micro Fiber cloth. I use a clean Q Tip to Polish the hard to reach nooks & crannies. No issues & they look beautiful… I hope you can return your beautiful Guitar back to perfect.. Good luck…
  16. It’s not that their too Hot. The ones in my MIC Casino are harsher sounding than my Casinos with Gibson USA P90’s which sound beautiful!
  17. The Casino is widely used by Professionals also… They are my main Guitars.. That may be partly why I want a Rivoli. It would be a comfortable transition going back & forth. Also, I like the looks of the Rivoli, it looks much like a Casino.. If they are also light weight that would make it even more appealling.. I’m tired of my 10 1/2 lb P Bass. My shoulder is tired of it too..
  18. They’re actually pretty decent Guitars.. You could sink many hundreds of dollars trying to make really great.. But, you’d be better off buying an IBJL or Elitist.. Both have Gibson USA P90’s, Switchcraft components & basically better everything... For your Guitar the most I’d invest would be a set of Fralin, Lollar or Duncan P90’s & a really good Set Up.. It will sound as good as just about any Casino.. I’d suggest Thro Bak P90’s but they’re pretty pricey... Congrats on your NGD! Casino’s are really great versatile Guitars! I own 3 & have the new made in USA on Order...
  19. There are a couple on Reverb.com https://reverb.com/marketplace?query=gibson es355 bigsby
  20. Right.. James Taylor can make a $4000.00 Guitar sound like a $40,000.00 Guitar...
  21. I’m having a tough time remembering when you could buy a new USA built Gibson Acoustic Guitar for $200.00... The ‘30’s maybe?? Just the difference between Hyde Glue & Super Glue (or whatever it is) makes huge difference.. If an Acoustic should someday need a significant repair Hyde glue can be heated & the Guitar can be taken apart as necessary.. The same Hyde glue can even be reused to complete assembly of the Guitar after the repair. Super glue... you might as well throw it away... True, Hyde glue is more expensive but well worth it if you plan to keep that great Guitar for the next 50 years or more... That’s only one of at least a hundred major differences.. In addition to the quality of Materials..
  22. I live in Palm Springs, Ca. Where Temps go well into the 100’s... Dryness is a factor.. Which is a primary reason I use Lemon Oil.. But also, for cleaning & treating the Fretboard to keep it like new.... The same as I clean & Polish my Guitars as well. I also like them to look as good as my Corvette..
  23. I do that too.. Not every String change but periodically. I use Dunlop 65 Lemon Oil & apply it on the de-stringed part of the Fretboard as I go. IMO it’s like using a Leather Treatment in my Corvettes’ Interior... It’s proper maintenance to keep it in like new condition...
