  1. I knew a guy who was 90 & he’d sneak down to where I worked to smoke a Cigar everyday.. His wife didn’t think he smoked.. Yeah, right... He lived to be a 100... I know another Guy who never smoked & died of Lung Cancer at an early age... Theres so much we don’t know! We think we know, but, do we?
  2. The E in Martin D28E or HD28E signifies it’s an Acoustic Electric Guitar.. Currently Martin employs either an LR Baggs or Fishman System.. Both are excellent.. It’s really worth it to spend a few more bucks for those. Especially if you plan to record or perhaps play with others... They can be run thru the Board for Recording or a PA for playing live... You don’t need necessarily need an Amp or Pedals.. I recommend getting an Acoustic Electric even if you get another Gibson or whatever... 6 or 12 string... There is so much you can do with the Acoustic Electric versions...
  3. You could easily buy a new Martin HD28E 12 String.. If you dig Acoustics it would be a very complimentary Choice to your 6 String... Best of both Worlds...
  4. It would be ideal if you want to add a Bigsby! Way easier Mod! It looks like it’s in good condition. The only real concern I’d have are how the Pickups sound.. By then Gibson had made several changes & versions of the original PAF’s.. The 50’s & early 60’s being the Holy Grail...
  5. My 1959 vintage ES345 didn’t, & I don’t recall any others, having a Trapeze Tailpiece? I suppose by the 70’s there may have been some that did? I would prefer a 60’s or older or 90’s or newer......
  6. Yeah, it’s just 4 Strings, how hard can it be? Just watch James Jamerson... Or Paul Mc Cartney... LOL..
  7. I’ve got just about every Guitar I’ve ever wanted... The only Guitar I really want that I don’t have is my mint condition Vintage Sunburst 1959 Gibson ES345 Stereo with Original PAF Humbuckers that I foolishly Sold in the mid ‘90’s because I was so naive... I had no idea what I had..
  8. Believe me, you will love a Martin HD28E 12 String.. If you buy new & don’t like it most places offer a 45 Return or Exchange program... That Guitar would be the best compliment you could buy in another Acoustic to go with the Guitar you already have.. WOW! For Electric the ES335, with MHS Pickups which are most like the Holy Grail Original PAF Humbuckers, is the one to go for.... The Bigsby Makes the Guitar.. Trust me! Buying Used from Reverb.com & GBase.com are Buyer friendly.. Both very reputable. In most situations that go to arbitration the Buyer wins... I’ve bought several Used & so have my friends..
  9. I agree about trying to find both Used if possible. In mint condition.. But, in doing so I would opt for a Martin HD28E 12 String or D-28E 12 String... You already have a great 6 String.. If I had to choose only one it would definitely be an ES335 with MHS Pickups & a Bigsby.... Or Used in mint condition.. You could GAS yourself with bunches more Guitars but you really wouldn’t need them.. Those 2 (or 3 if you go Used) would do just about anything you could ever want to do..
  10. Built in Korea, it’s probably a pretty decent Guitar! Good find! How does it sound & play?
  11. Laurel Canyon 2 Part Doc is currently on Spectrum & most likely streaming on others... Great watch...
  12. That is wild! But, cool! And makes sense in a lot of ways..
  13. Great looking Guitar! Enjoy!
  14. Laurel Canyon is a 2 Part Documentary.. I watched it a while back & it was excellent... Here is a Preview..
  15. I need to correct my Pedal Chain.. My Janglebox is first, then my Tuner.. 4-5 is even better for a Travel rig! I’ve been think how I could do that... I would really like to get just the Guitar & a good Tube Amp... Normally I use either a Vox AC-10, AC-15, Fender 65 PRRI or 65 DRRI... All 4 have Reverb.. Fenders also have Trem... Vox’s have Master Volume & Top Boost or Gain... Fenders are great for clean & Vox are great for some dirt... Would love a great 12 - 22 Watt Tube Amp that did both equally as good as Fender & Vox.. But, I haven’t found it yet...
  16. That is another one.. I haven’t watched that one yet but look forward to it.... There is also a David Crosby Doc that goes into those early days in Laurel Canyon & other parts of his career... A bit of a downer though on this one...
  17. eBay & Reverb.com have Sales history of all the Guitars that sold... Look up a model. Like yours & it will give you Sold Prices based on condition etc. Take an Average & that’s what it’s probably worth....
  18. There was a recent Rockumentary about Laurel Canyon & the Musician scene there during the 60’s.... Great show! It may be on your Cable stations...
  19. The early Blues from the 20’s was very influential in the 60’s.... Its still great to listen to....
  20. Definitely a lot of the early Blues Cats from the 20’s.....
  21. I used to use gobs of Pedals but have it down to just these for now. Tuner 1st, Janglebox Compressor, TS-808 Tube Screamer, Boss Delay, Boss Fender 64 Reverb, Keeley 30 ms Double Tracker, Amp....... Less is more..
  22. Getting my Guitars repaired at Gibson Factory & or being sent a brand new replacement is worth it for me to make a Phone call... Plus, keeping the Factory Warranty in tact. I’ve had to do it for 2 different Guitars.. Each time it was one Phone call. Dealt with one CS Rep.. It takes some effort but it was worth it. They sent me a Label for shipping at no charge. Repaired one Guitar to perfection.. The other was replaced with a brand new one.. Even nicer looking than the one I had... In both cases the Guitars came back to me in perfect condition & Set up perfect... If I’d gone the email route I’d have gotten jacked around like you & many others who have told their stories on this Forum & other Forums I read....
  23. Or Rush & Yes.... Point being about the real Music Business reality, as Whitefang mentions above, not the Fairy Tales most of us believe....
