  1. I always thought George was playing on that track with them. I will be really disappointed if I find out other wise... LOL : (
  2. Correct me if I am wrong ... but aren't Eleanor Rigby and She's Leaving Home the only two tracks where there are no Beatles playing any musical instruments?
  3. Yes, an awesome guitar. Wow, actually ... But are you gonna let your 13-year-old nephew play it that wants to show you he just learned how to play "Enter Sandman"??
  4. I think it is laughable how much Revolution #9 has been mentioned in this thread. All that they did, and they are getting beat up for one experimental track? It is not even that bad of a mixture of different musical snippets, and I think it actually is an okay listen that fits within the realm of the what the White Album was. Is it a great work? Not to me, but it is not the worst track ever created either (at least to me). Is it Eleanor Rigby or I Am The Walrus? No, of course not ... it was never intended to be, though.
  5. As far as overlooked goes, though ... how about the tracks on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack? - Only A Northern Song - All Together Now - Hey, Bulldog - It's all Too Much
  6. Adding even a little more confusion, there is also the "Traditional Pro" (aka, Trad Pro) line that is a specific line only for Guitar Center that takes a number of specific features and offers this packaging exclusively by Guitar Center at a relatively affordable price. They are currently on "Trad Pro V" which is new and also challenging the aforementioned "relatively affordable price" part. There is currently a humble thread I started on the Trad Pro V that has some more info, if you are at all interested. I do not wish to clutter up this thread with repetitive details here. 7. Yeah, similar to other posts, I am a ball-cap guy too (not what the OP was intending with this thread, I assume). I still have my hair (a descent amount for my 50s age anyway), but I just like ball caps. Mostly it is sports teams -- either SF Giants, Oakland Raiders, or GS Warriors (yes, I grew up in the Bay Area). While I lived in Scottsdale, in a thrift shop I came upon a high-quality and brand-new (still had the tags on it) ASU Devils hat for $1, representing the major football team of the local area. Typically, I don't buy used hats, but that one was new, very nice, and super cool looking with great colors -- I wore that ASU one to death.
  8. The Beatles' albums -- to me -- seem like we have heard them a billion times (because we have). But it always amazes me how refreshing and pleasant they always sound. Because of my earlier post in this thread, I went to re-listen to the guitar solo in Good Morning, Good Morning off Sgt Pepper ... I ended up listening to the whole album. Just brilliant ... 1 billion and 1, I guess.
  9. Typically, a "studio band" in this day and age does not play a lot together. So I remember when I first saw the Let It Be roof concert, I was surprised how great they played and sounded together considering the bad weather and how spur of the moment it was. But the Beatles mode of recording was always to lay down a single baseline track of them playing as a band, and THEN they would bounce and layer recordings on top of that to fill it out (due to the limitations of four-track recording). As such, even though they were not touring, they always - for the most part - were playing together as a band. Having them play so well together, and also considering their great musicianship (all of them) really added significantly to their greatness ... IMO.
  10. I have a 200-series Omega Seamaster watch that I bought new in 1991 when I was going to my first submarine in the Navy. I love the watch dearly, but it needs a bunch of money in repairs that may not even fix it properly. And ... I can't see spending $4K for a new Omega Seamaster (and I don't like buying used expensive watches), so I got myself for Christmas: Swiss Military 2701 Marlin watch -- Swiss made, Swiss movement, sapphire crystal, all stainless steel, solid bracelet. Not a Martin, but a Marlin for me... (LOL).
  11. To me, you can make a strong argument for any album released after Rubber Soul. I know Rubber Soul is lauded so highly ... and rightfully so, but everything released after it was better ... IMO. The best Beatles album to me is Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. John came super strong with three tunes that are particularly great: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Good Morning/Good Morning, and A Day In The Life (yes, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite is great too, but I like the other three above Kite). George's Within You, Without You is awesome, and I really like that they opened side 2 with it as a long (for that time) five-minute track. The other "somewhat forgotten" Paul tunes are amazing: Getting Better, Fixing A Hole, and She's Leaving Home (not as amazing but still good are Lovely Rita and When I Am Sixty Four). I just always thought as a soup-to-nuts album, Sgt Pepper was without equal. I also really love the strong guitars in the Sgt Pepper track and the Good Morning/Good Morning guitar solo, in particular. The album concept was super cool and very well executed visually, as well, with the costumes, cover art, and packaging.
  12. I can see the pics now (not sure what changed). But that is pretty extreme after 18 months. If you bought it new, you should go back to the dealer for them to leverage Gibson to make it right? If that is not possible, I would contact Gibson directly. This is a Gibson Custom Shop after only 18 months. VERY sub-par. I bet that guitar was very expensive.
  13. Numerous other forums don't let you post a pic at all on their sites. You have to use an external photo host site. So it is kind of nice Gibson allows this at all. There are many such reputable sites that do it for free: Google Photos Imgur Dropbox TinyPic. Use Flickr 500px SmugMug
  14. They have a 2019 (before the models were revamped, I am assuming) SG Standard for $1149. That is a great price. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson/SG-Standard-2019-Electric-Guitar-Heritage-Cherry-1500000281773.gc
  15. It sounds like you are trying to find pictures to authenticate a guitar you are considering. In your original post, you have two different links with pics to two different guitars that look (at least to my eye) identical. The fact that the two links are identical (at least to my eye) should be enough in my book to use these pics for your authentication process. Either that ... or maybe I mis-understood the original post entirely ...
  16. I can see that. A majestic choice for sure to mark the occasion.
  17. The first "Trad Pro" was actually called the "Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro" and ran from 2009-2011. It had a list price of $1900, while a Les Paul Standard listed for $2300. So, it was quite a bit cheaper than a true Standard. Hence, it makes the fact that today's new upper Trad Pro model costs $300 more than a true Standard-50s/60s seems a bit odd to me. The original 09-11 Trad Pro had the following features which was an overall great package and leaned more to why they called it "Traditional": - Plain maple top with a high-gloss gloss finish - Satin back, sides, and neck ('60s neck profile) - BB3 and Classic 57 pickups, with coil taps (all passive electronics; zebra-uncovered coils) - Locking Grover tuners - True MoP in-laid Gibson logo - Weight-relieved (not chambered) mahogany body - Antique binding, period-correct pickguard, vintage Gibson top hat knobs - Plek setup and hard-shell snakeskin case
  18. I can't see the pics. Maybe others will have better luck.
  19. Nice guitar. I like it too.
  20. You need to be especially concerned about fakes. The amount of fakes has been reduced greatly in the last two years, but before that, fake Chinese Les Pauls were everywhere ... so they are VERY MUCH out there. Do some research so you know what to look for.
