darling67
This just went up today on Gibson.com: The Kirk Douglas SG I saw an ad for it on one of the Editors' screen last night, and went looking for it when I got home. It was not there yet. But he called me over just now to show me, and I was like, "Oh wow! Yeah, I saw this on your screen last night!". I am drooling right now, and the wheels are spinning in my head. I just bought my '50s Tribute, and I really don't need another SG (Hmmmm! I take issue with myself for saying that! LOL!)… but I'd love to get my hands on one these. My work discount would make it very affordable. I'd love an SG with a tremelo on it. What do you guys think of it? charlie brown
Gosh, that's a decent price, for an SG Custom, too! The actual selling price will be even less! Which is a good, and welcomed thing! I could be about to have a GAS attack! CB
RowdyMoon
Looks like this one with extras..... SG Classic custom I have this GOTW on hold at my local music store actually....nice axe
charlie brown
Very Limited Supply, apparently. I just ordered one, from my dealer! He's going to let me know, if they are, in fact, still available, or already "sold out?" I didn't even know of, the endorsee...but, I like the look of that SG Custom! It has the late '60's beveling, but still has tapered horns (thank God), and a "batwing" pickguard, to boot. Remindes me of my old '66 SG Custom, that "got away!" So, I'm hoping I don't get a "no longer available" notification! Edit: Just got a confirmation, from Lance, at my Dealer's (E.M. Shorts) that "It's on the way!" They are limited, by Gibson it seems, to 194 "units!" CB
STEVIL
Not really keen on the overall aesthetics of the guitar to be honest, and dare I say it I'm not familiar with the artist either. I know it's an SG, and by and large I should love it , but it's not floating my boat at all. Just had a look at one UK seller, they are reporting that there are only 25 available to us here - they should be snapped up in a flash I would think. rct
I've always lusted after his Les Pauls, 335s. The guy is a class act. I've never seen him with an SG, but that doesn't mean anything. rct

Well, I know from past experience, with Gibson "limited editions" that..."If you snooze, you lose!" Sometimes, I don't mind "losing," but, I was hoping this would not be one of them. I "lucked out," apparently. CB

Getting kind of (kind of, heck...very) excited, about this one. Of course, I felt the same way, about my "Satin '61," and the "Original," as well. My excitement was well founded, as it turned out! I'm sure it will be, with this one, as well! CB
Sofaplayer
Can't find any information about this SG being a limited edition. Where do you guys get this from? Why on earth would Gibson USA release a signature guitar in limited numbers? Makes no sense to me.

DiamondJig
Love the fact it's got the blocks, diamond, 61 set neck joint, the blend switch and the price is great. Don't like the full face PG and the rosewood, where's the ebony board, Gibson is still hav'n source problem with it I guess, I might have liked baked maple. charlie brown
I have a friend that has a `69 SG custom..looks exact! Yes, aside from color, and even though it's based on a '69 Custom, it's the spittin' image, of my old '66 Custom (when they were just transitioning, to the "batwing" pickguard), as well. Only mine was "White!" CB
Sofaplayer
Does anybody know when it will be available?
charlie brown
Does anybody know when it will be available? Don't know, about other dealers (mine included), but American Musical Supply states: "Expected 10-04-2013." "Expected" is the key word, there! As to when they actually arrive...anyone's guess. I have one ordered, from my dealer (E.M. Shorts), but as of yet, I haven't heard a word, on it's actual arrival date. They told me, originally, about a month/6 weeks...(10 days ago). But, like everyone else, they're at Gibson's mercy. Addition: Just got an e-mail back, from Lance, at E.M. Shorts, and he thinks the October 4th date (or close to it +/-) is about right, on delivery of my KD SG Custom, from Gibson. But, based on past shipping experiences, with new or limited edition models, we both know, it could be a little to a LOT longer, as well. So, time will tell. John Rutherford
For non-US folks in case you thought he was a secret crack Gibson plank spanker, the Kirk Douglas SG has nothing to do with the fine dimple chinned movie actor. I had to google him, in fact I had to google Jimmy Fallon. Nice axe though.
